I've slowed down in my reading of Tactical Magick. Some of the concepts are fascinating in the extreme and I want to be sure I understand them. The author is very economical in his prose and I'm reading carefully to be sure I "get" it. I'm also grabbing my various spellbooks to see what can be used in the manner he presents...
And I got the email notice today that "Vampires: In their own words" has been shipped and should be here by the 6th, a month before I expected it. ALL is good...

hehehehehe My copy of "Vampires In their own Words" hit the mailbox this afternoon. I'll settle down with it later. It looks to be very informative.

Got emails this morning telling me that one book that I'd ordered has been shipped and will be here in 10 to 14 days and the other one, Michelle Belanger's "Psychic Energy Codex: Awakening your Subtle Senses" is gonna be shipping early and I should get that one next week.  Smiley It's gonna be real hard to avoid spending all my time reading!

I got another book today. [Yeah, I know. Bad, BAD Penth! LOL] But I simply could NOT pass up "Goth Craft" by Raven Digitalis. I started reading it in the car on the way home. The first part, that I'm reading now, is basically a "Field Guide" to Goth Culture. He explains what Goth is and is not, the roots -- ancient and modern of the Gothic movement -- and a detailed "thumbnail" of each of the Goth subtypes within the culture. Am I Goth? Yes, I am since I meet many of the emotional/intellectual criteria to be Goth, especially in the areas of introspection, observation and the analysis of human motives and behavior. Style wise, I'm a "CasualGoth" crossed with a "CorporateGoth" as needed although my keys are chained to my belt at all times! Personality wise, I lean toward "PerkyGoth" more than any other type.  Smiley The rest of the book concerns "the Craft" and I haven't started on that section yet. When I've thoroughly read the book, I'll post a review in the Goth Forum.

I found a couple of more books that I had to have. I picked up Practical Psychic Self-Defense by Robert Bruce because I'm reading his Energy Work right now -- and I'm learning a lot -- and he makes reference to Practical Psychic Self-Defense in that book so naturally I had to have it!  Smiley The other one is a Llewellyn Publication, Sensual Love Secrets for Couples by Al Link and Pala Copeland. It looks like fun....  Smiley  Smiley I probably won't be posting about those experiments!

I just started L.A. Banks' novel Minion and I've picked up the second book in the series The Awakening. I'm finding this series easier to get into than Anne Rice's books. I guess I like my vampires more "red blooded."  Smiley

I'm about half way through Goth Craft by Raven Digitalis and about a third of the way through Practical Psychic Self Defense: Understanding and Surviving Unseen Influences by Robert Bruce. The latter book has been particularly interesting in light of what has happened to me in the last nine - ten months. I suspect that if I had had this book this time last year, things would be a hell of a lot different this year.

Adding to old thread:

Currently reading Stephen King's The Stand while at work.  Also struggling through the horrific new Jean M. Auel book Land of the Painted Caves.  Just picked up an advanced chakra book as well.  Smiley

I've been reading Mario Vargas Llosa's Conversation in the Cathedral.

I'm reading bits and pieces (since it's more of a reference-style book) of The Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P. Hall.

I recently started reading On Death and Dying by Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross (the lady who came up with the five stages of grief).

"The Keepers of the Garden" by Dolores Cannon. It's an account of the hypnotic regression of a young man who recounted his experiences as an inhabitant of another planet.

I'm reading The Believing Brain by Richard Shermer it's actualy really interesting, but has the occasional sciencey jargon so if your brain starts to hurt when you have to power through jargon you might not like it lol.

I'm just about to start a book called "The Naked Emperor", it is a book written by a friend of mine that frequents another forum (for CFS/ ME - not a competitor) - Roger Knowles.

It was Ł2.14, it's a Kindle book.

I don't have the official Kindle, but I enjoy reading Kindle Books on my android phone. (the bonus it has over the ORIGINAL kindle (not the Kindle Fire) is that a mobile is backlit, therefore you can read at night without requiring a clip on light)

Anyway, about the book:

"Tired of aggressive, ungrateful customers, hapless motor-cycle repair shop owner, Simon Jones, decides that enough is enough. Encouraged by a newfound ‘gift’, he decides that it’s time to seek a new and better life.

His savvy wife, Hazel, isn’t impressed by his ‘gift’, but agrees that a week’s holiday in Cornwall with the kids, Becky and Ben, and their delinquent golden retriever, Orpheus, would be a good idea, a chance to consider their future.

During the holiday, an incident in a gift shop sparks an entrepreneurial idea, and they return home full of plans to set up a new business.

Initially, the business goes very well but an unanticipated disaster strikes, leading to near bankruptcy.

Desperate for money, Simon has a short spell working in a factory warehouse followed by a longer one as an unsuccessful insurance salesman.

One day he returns home from work, broke and full of despair, to be met by someone from the past, someone who, with the help of the naked emperor syndrome, eventually leads Simon and Hazel to a new life of fame and fortune."

That was the synopsis.

I will let you know what I think once I get stuck in Smiley

I'm reading The Source Field Investigations by David Wilcox which is a TOME with extensive references. The writing style is easy to read but given the complexity of some of the subjects covered, you MUST pay attention!

The other book I have my nose in presently is  Songs of Praise: Hymns to the Gods of Greece by Amanda Sioux Blake

I'm currently working my way through "The Source Field Investigations" by David Wilcock. It is TOME that requires careful reading so I'm taking my time. I'm about halfway through and it's fascinating. The author also has a website [Divine Cosmos] that has a number of free books and other materials that I'll be getting into when I'm not spending every spare moment writing!

Creating a Line Family: Love, Abundance & Belonging in the New Millennium by Richard Gilmore & Elon de Arcana (Contributor) arrived today. Hopefully I'll be able to start reading it soon. Yeah, I'm interested in alternatives to the "nuclear family". I don't know if we'll ever be in one -- we'd be getting a rather late start -- but I want to learn all I can so if the opportunity presents itself, I'll be as well informed as I can be without first hand experience.
