*sigh* Bad as I hate to, I'm off to wrestle with the sump pump. (See "The Utter Joys of Home Ownership in "Grumble. Grumble" for details.) I'll be back later. Be safe.

Well, the pump is in place -- the hardest part was digging the tub it sets in out of the storage shed -- and about a pound of kitty litter was swept up and returned to the litter boxes. Miss Maggie does make the litter fly in all directions!  Grin  And I got some much needed space cleared for "Penthesilea's Renovation." More on that in a few weeks!  Lips Sealed  Grin Plus the usual dishes and other housewifey nonsense so it was a good afternoon.

Getting two holes in the top of my ear today... and asking how much a tattoo will cost, since it finally got designed!  Grin

This is going to get expensive, I have a feeling.  At least the piercings are only $25 each.

*wave*

Long time since I've been around, so I wanted to say HELLO!!!

Observation: People say that they want honesty. People say that they value the truth. But. When they get the truth and it is a truth that they can't cope with or don't want to face, they decide it is a lie. In the same vein, if it a choice between believing an outrageous lie or an unpleasant truth, they will pick the lie every time. *shakes head.* It can be hell to be an honest person.

OOO! I wanna see pics!

Are you getting standard holes punched, or needle pierced? If by needle, I would go for 16 or 14 gauge, as it is easier to find jewelry in that size. A standard hole is fine too, but in cartilage, there is always a chance of the cartilage splitting or splintering, which can cause no end of problems. Also remember it will take up to a full year for a cartilage piercing of any kind to fully heal---no matter what the mall piercers say! Just for the record, standard piercing earrings are 21g, and regular earrings are 22g. A nostril pierce done in India is a 20g hole, and one done in the States is done at no smaller than 18g, usually 18g or 16g standard.

Wire gauges get bigger the smaller the number is, so a 20g wire is smaller than a 16g one.

If you have any trouble with the pierce, I may be able to advise you on how best to care for it, and if a doctor should be consulted. Very rarely, infected piercings need professional care to heal well. In any case, regardless of how bad it might hurt, don't take the jewelry out to "heal it up". All that does is cause an infected cyst that will have to be drained by a doctor--sometimes surgically. Always let the thing heal completely first. OH, and DON'T use peroxide or alcohol on the ear EVER. It is the worst thing you could do to it. Plain soap and water is best--a soap without lotions and such in it, just plain old soap, two or three times a day.

I'm just going to sit here and wince about the piercings. Getting my ears pieced was quite enough....

As for the rest, yeah I know. I wouldn't last 30 seconds as a politician..

I'm here! *wave*

I don't know whether to be pleased or not. I've been doing affirmations to improve my eyesight -- among other things -- and this morning I can't see clearly out of the top half of my newly purchased, in excess of $300, glasses. grrrrrrrr You can probably see why I am of two minds about this....

Well, Spirit has a YouTube loading but she's let me have the computer while it loads. And I may very well keep it the rest of the night!

I did, thank you.

Morning all. I'm up -- no caffeine yet, a state of affairs I'm going to correct directly -- and aside from a trip to the grocery, and Wal-Mart probably, we have no plans for the day. We will just be as lazy as we can be with a household to run!  Grin

I went to an actual piercer - ie needle - and got 16G.

Eventually, I'll be getting two more, but I wasn't brave enough to do 4 at one time! I'll see if I can get a pic and put it up for you.

I have super-sensitive ears, so this was an interesting experience for me! But, they're doing good so far (it's been a whopping 4 days) and actually don't hurt that bad unless someone tries to mess with my ear.  Wink
