	I have no doubt that we, or at least you, could escape any attempt to eliminate us. But the Club's employees wouldn't be able to escape, or at least not all of them. They and their families are my responsibility too. They look to me for protection and I can't let them down. So, I play "politics." Fortunately, no one has yet mentioned an alliance marriage. The only advantage to being Houseless.

	Chuckles I wasn't talking about running away. "Retreat to a better position" might be necessary. "Regrouping" might also be on the agenda. But if I play our cards right, neither will be necessary. That is what I'm working toward, every night and day.

	No supposing about it, little sister. We have an excellent staff but even they need to know that the person in charge -- me -- cares enough to put in a full day or night right along side them. That's so when something happens and I can't be there, they won't slack off.

	As it was, Penth made it to the main room first, attired in a long, high necked black gown that left her arms and shoulders bare but covered the still fading bruises on her back and chest. She had no sooner appeared than the hostess on duty come rushing up to her. Hostess: My Lady, there is a group here from The Council. They need a private room. Penth: Is one available? Hostess: The Red Room is available but it isn't quite ready. We weren't expecting to need it so soon tonight. Penth: Get it ready, I'll smooth things over with The Council.

	PD quickly follows, wearing a sleek black v necked dress that fell to her knee on one side, and trailed on the floor on the other, her red hair twisted stylishly back, and a pair of elbow length gloves that cover the teeth marks on her wrist, on her feet she wears a pair of black patterned ballet pumps which match the pattern on her jewellery. She catches up with Penth "I pass inspection as hostess?"

	*You do? Wonders never cease!* After tweaking her sister through the mindlink, Penth went about soothing any ruffled feathers among the VIPs from the Vampires' Council. As she moved among them it was necessary to hide her shock. These were not the usual high ranking House members that normally sat in Council. These were the Heads of House themselves! Whatever matter that was to be discussed in her "Red Room" had to be of such extreme importance that it could not be trusted to underlings, no matter how trusted and skilled. At length, they filed into the room, leaving their own bodyguards stationed outside the closed doors.....
