Just wanted to let you know that everything is okay here, in case you're watching the news..just keeping an eye on the weather; According to the local news, The National Hurricane Center planned to fly into an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico to see if it has a circulation and how strong the winds are to determine if it has reached tropical depression status. "It possibly could become Tropical Storm Erin in the next 24 hours," Yanez said.

Right now local residents are being via local news to be on alert and prepare for last minute preparations given the proxmity of the depression.

As for the other "storm" it was caught in a bad way and now being seriously held accountable...

Decided to do some "thread necromancy" on this.

Today's weather:
Sunny as all get out!
Cold as heck!  Smiley17 degrees at the nearest reporting station.
Pretty. Because there is some very dry snow flurrying around and when the sun catches it just right, it sparkles!

Baby, it's cold outside!  Smiley
Current temp at the nearest reporting station: 11 degrees and clear.
There's snow in the forecast for Thursday and they're being cagey about the amount. And the "highs" for the week are predicted to be in the low 20's if that much.

Need hot soup, hot chocolate and a hot guy......

The sun's out and the county-sized blob of snow that has been overhed for the last couple of hours seems to have snowed itself out. It's 12 degrees right now and so far, there's no sign of the storm that's supposed to hit us later this evening.
No complaints about that!

We had 50-something temps over the weekend and cloudy.
It's still cloudy but we've been having snow showers all day. We now have a thin layer of snow on the ground and the radar says that there is more to come.

COLD!
But sunny which is good from the standpoint of melting the snow. Bad from the standpoint of "sun on snow" being very hard on unprotected eyes! But we're getting a bit of cloud cover so maybe I'll be able to walk around inside without wearing my sunglasses.

We ended up with 3.5 to 4 inches of snow. NO freezing rain around here. We're still under an advisory since the wind is still blowing pretty good and it is, of course, still pretty cold. 26 degrees.

The NWS in Indianapolis has issued a winter weather advisory for blowing and drifting snow, which is in effect until 1 pm est Tuesday. The winter storm warning will expire at 7 pm est this evening.
Roads may become snow covered and slick from drifting as a result of blowing snow. This will result in hazardous driving conditions, especially in open areas. Visibilities could also be reduced due to blowing snow. Exercise caution if you must travel.
While snowfall rates have dropped significantly from those seen earlier, an additional inch of snow is possible through midnight.
Precautionary/preparedness actions,
A winter weather advisory for blowing snow means that visibilities will be limited due to strong winds blowing snow around. Use caution when traveling, especially in open areas.

Still waiting for the weatherpersons to decide whether we're going to get "wintery mix" on Sunday into Monday or 5 to 10 inches of snow. Why do I have the feeling that we won't know until it's on top of us?
*sigh* At least we have our two weeks supplies laid in so we're not likely to run out of anything before we can restock because whether it's "wintery mix" or 5 to 10 inches of snow, I don't think that we'll be getting out of here on Monday and maybe not on Tuesday either.

The storms have passed, the last moved out about 20 - 30 minutes ago. There isn't anything coming up behind it so we should be in the clear for the rest of the night.
