Well, as promised, here's The thread for Alex!

Let's see, I have done one pair of black booties. I'm starting a second.

I've got one afghan finished. It is a silvery gray and a kind of rose color with a black border. I made it 3 by 4 feet so it can be used when she's bigger and doubled now. It stays cold well into spring in the higher elevations out west.

Good idea!

Have you done any hats yet? I was thinking about doing a hat and some mittens in black too.

No. I'm working on a second afghan -- black and silver gray with a blood red border -- and I have an adorable dress pattern I simply HAVE to make and a cute idea for a bunch of bibs. You CAN'T have too many bibs! Spirit taught me that in spades!

I'm looking at a simple sweater pattern too.....I may have enough black to do it, but if not, I think I can do part in black, and part in white. I will try to do the black part where babies tend to dribble.

That they do! Smiley This dress pattern comes with a matching bonnet. I could probably make that up without much trouble.
*Definitely gonna need a BIG shipping box.*

OMG!

I just figured out why the booties are too big!

I was using the wrong size needle!! LMAO

I'm doing a second pair in two needle sizes smaller this time!

Well, who knows how big Alex will be, so if she is a big baby, she will have booties that fit! LOL

This is true. And the little darlings grow like weeds on Miracle Grow as it is.  I'm sure Alex will be no exception!

I went ahead and cast on for the second pair, but I'm really interested in doing the sweater. I hope I have enough black!

What kind of yarn are you using? If it isn't some you've spun yourself maybe I can help out.

I'm doing these in Caron's Simply Soft acrylic yarn in worsted weight. I am still waiting on a shipment of fiber to spin, so no handspun this time. Besides, I need to get some care labels for the natural fibers first.

The wool I spin seems to be non-allergy-aggravating, as I am allergic to wool, and it doesn't bother me a bit, but it has to be handwashed to keep it from felting up. It isn't hard, but you can't forget!

That's what I'm using! It's softer than the Red Heart (regular worsted weight) and it is real hard to find black "baby/fingering" yarn for some strange reason. If you need some extra, let me know and I'll send you a care package. I ALWAYS overbuy. Smiley

LOL!

Great minds think alike! I detest Red Heart--too scratchy!

The Caron is really nice stuff, and simple to care for. I'll let you know if I run out! I'm on the lookout for nice crochet baby patterns too!

Red Heart is okay after about a dozen washings or so -- which happen pretty fast around here -- it is entirely too hard and scratchy for tender baby skin! And I'd appreciate anything interesting you can find in the way of patterns1 Smiley

Second pair of booties done!

I can't believe I got them done so fast! I'm trying to decide what to do next--sweater, dress, or bonnet.

I guess I'll look over my options for worsted weight and see. Most baby things are written for sport weight yarn, which I don't have much of anyway. LOL

You go, girl!! It is going to take me a while to finish this second afghan. It is a pattern I've never tried before and I can't do it on "auto-pilot." Smiley After that, it will either be the bibs or the dress/slip/bonnet set. I'm going to need some nice lace for the dress and I don't have any of that on hand. I DO have what I need for the bibs so I may do them first just to get my "sewing mojo" on before I tackle the dress.

We're back from a successful shopping trip! I got the fabric for Alex's slip and some sweet little lace to finish the hem. The pattern calls for buttons on the slip but I think I'll go with small snaps instead. MUCH easier to close when a little Dark Princess decides to be squirmy! I might put snaps on the dress too for the same reason but I haven't decided yet. And, of course, I had to check something on the pattern envelope that I didn't have with me so I had to look up the number in the pattern book and all the "spring" stuff is out and I saw so many adorable little outfits! Infant sized, toddler sized... *getting glazed eyes over the possibilities.....*

The black and gray afghan is one third done! I'm working on it every chance I get and it's coming along. I was hoping to go lace shopping this week for the dress but it isn't looking good. The weather and some other real life stuff is going to have to take precedence but we have some time -- it's only late February, after all -- so I'll have a chance to get it done! I can make the bibs and the slip while I'm waiting! Skywise is chuckling at me a little bit about all this but it is an indulgent, loving kind of chuckle. He knows babies make me goofy!

LOL!!

I still haven't made up my mind on what to knit next. I may get you to send me that yarn though. If I do the dress. I'm pretty sure I don't have enough for it.

Heh, if Skywise is chuckling at you, he may show up unexpectedly with "a little something" to go in the box too! Guys are like that sometimes, LOL.

I hope FuryRising will drop in again soon so we can get the address to send all this stuff to!

Besides, I'd like to know how everything is going! I remember being hungry all the darn time at the oddest hours when I was at this point of my pregnancy with the kiddo. For some reason, Krystals dunked in Krystal Chili seemed like a really good thing at three in the morning! LOL

Me too! I'm getting quite a pile of things and I'm not slacking off any!

When I was pregnant with Moonie I was on a rather strict diet for the last trimester and "cravings" weren't allowed. Especially since I was craving Milky Way bars! Smiley I kept to pretty much the same diet with Spirit as a precaution. And, of course, unlike with Moonie, with Spirit I had "morning, noon and night sickness from Hell" pretty much the whole time. Thank the Gods it did ease up about halfway through the pregnancy but to this day I can NOT eat spaghetti. Lasagna I can eat but not spaghetti! Smiley

Oh I know it! Moonie had him wrapped around her little baby fingers within five minutes of her first breath! Spirit too! I know that he really missed them after being cut out of the lives of his nieces and nephews but that was the choice of his siblings, not ours so the karma falls on them.

I'm going to have a lot of this blood red yarn left when the afghan is finished. Maybe I can find a crochet pattern for booties. Any baby can wear pastels but it takes a kid with style to wear black.. or red!  Smiley hehehehehehe
