Here is a glossary of terms unique to Samgara. I'll be adding to it as I create new words/terms. Unique animals, creatures, etc. will be entered separately in the Beastiary.

A


Alitha’s Kiss (AH-lith-ah’s kis) n.  A highly addictive drug that causes euphoria and results in vastly increased sexual response and stamina in both sexes. Once addiction has occurred, the drug must be taken at regular intervals to prevent withdrawal which is one hundred percent fatal.

Carcasa (car-CASA) n. 1. A non alcoholic drink made from sugar syrup, carbonated water, citrus juices and various herbal extracts.  It can be drunk alone or used as a mixer with alcoholic beverages.   Carcasa syrup (without the carbonated water which is added just before serving) is the primary export of Fairchilde Springs.  Carcasa made with genuine Fairchilde Springs water is considered the best in the world.  (Terran equivalent: Coca-Cola Classic, fountain style)
     
Cahveen (cah-VEEN) n. 1. A liqueur flavored with coffee.

Carrak (car-RAK) n. 1. Vulgarism for a pleasure worker, normally one who works to feed an addiction and is not a member of the Guild.

Carrakee (car-rak-KEE) n. 1. Vulgarism for a woman of low moral and/or ethical character.

Carrakson (car-rak-SON) n. 1. Vulgarism for a man of low moral and/or ethical character.

Common Law (KOM-on-LAW) n.  A system of laws that govern the lands outside the jurisdiction of the city states.  These laws cover the responsibilities of independent landowners, those who swear oaths to them,  the punishment of criminals and the treatment of slaves and other bound servants among other things.

Consort (CON-sort) n. 1. A person with whom one has exchanged the vows of Handfasting.

Darkness, the (dahrk-ness) n. A condition, similar to the Rage (see also) which appears randomly in humanoids. It manifests in response to anger or the perception of danger and is believed to be triggered by the presence of adrenaline in the blood.  There may also be a subconscious/extrasensory ability to sense the presence of danger which triggers the Darkness but that has not been substantiated.  The manifestation of the Darkness is marked by increased agility, reaction time, speed, awareness of danger and resistance to pain and fatigue.  A trained warrior in the grip of the Darkness is virtually unstoppable.  Once the Darkness recedes it is replaced by intense sexual arousal.  Little else is known about the Darkness due to the secretive nature of the Order of Dark Knights all of whose members possess the Darkness.

Dragonine (DRAG-on-ine) n. 1.  A small flying reptile similar in appearance to a dragon. They come in a variety of colors and can breathe fire. Dragonines are not indigenous to the planet. It is believed that they entered the world through a small reality breach about five to six hundred years ago and established themselves in isolated areas of the southern coast. They can be domesticated if hatched by humans as they will impress the first living thing they see as their parent.  They are very intelligent and loyal creatures.

Dur-ah-chal (DUR-ah-chal) n. (pl. chals) 1. A race indigenous to Reality 617. An extremely violent and bloodthirsty species they are reputed to be the result of orc/elven crossbreeding and deliberate artificial mutation.  They average seven feet tall and weigh between 250 and 300 pounds. Their features are bestial, their ears are over large and pointed due to mutation of their elven heritage. Their teeth are pointed like their orc ancestors. They are exclusively meat eaters and will eat weaker members of their own species if no other meat is available.
