	Good evening. I'm whipped. It hit 90 today and today, the humidity decided to go up. I got way too hot at the State Fair. We got home at a little after 4. I stripped and crashed until 6. I'm now drinking tea and starting to get myself straightened out. Not gonna get a lot done tonight. Later.

	Tea and dark chocolate M&Ms are helping. Skywise went into town and brought back tacos for Spirit and Big Shef sandwiches from Hardee's for the rest of us. I think I may avoid cooking tonight. [For those not in the know: a Big Shef is a double cheeseburger with lettuce and tartar sauce. They were the banner offering of a chain called "Burger Chef" and Skywise and I loved those sandwiches. They were bought out by Hardee's and the "Big Shef" disappeared until a couple of years ago when Hardee's brought it back to keep their trademark in force. They discovered that they had a hit on their hands.] YaHooing with Nike at the moment and just relaxing. Later.

	Just got back from a quick trip into town. Our electric bill had failed to arrive -- we got the one for the Guest House on time, early last week -- so we had to run over and get some replacement paperwork. Not to mention, finding out how much we owe them! We got some lunch and ran through Wal-Mart for a few things we needed. I got the pattern I was looking at for the formal uniform of our Our Hero's warrior order. I will now be able to open it up, take out the instructions and really see if it's going to work. For the record, it's a pattern for a Confederate soldier's uniform, unembellished, so I can fool with it. Another design to go into the Codex! Right now, I need to finish putting the bells on the hem of my hip scarf! Later!

	I've gotten the bells on my hip scarf. A couple of them are going to need to be redone but NOT RIGHT NOW! I'm currently "tweaking" the synopsis. I've already found a spot that has benefited from a bit of rewriting. And I have to run the dishwasher yet today so the hip scarf is going to have to wait for adjustments! Now, back to work! Later.

	Grrrrrr... Still on costume design. Not finding what I need which I saw a few decades ago -- okay not THAT many! -- in a Star Trek reference book which included a very detailed section on Star Fleet uniforms. I know fans and at some point, someone is gonna want to make Our Hero's uniform (he's gonna end up with more than one, but one problem at a time!) and I've banged my head on the desk often enough over a costume to want to make it as easy as I can for any costume geek that wants to dress the part! So I want illustrations, suggestions for patterns and fabric recommendations for the Codex. Also have to work on the various insignia (STILL don't know what the "Mark of the Dark Knights" that members of the Order have tattooed on the small of their backs (females) or on their right wrists (males) looks like but it has to be something that will fit in both places.) and other details that make a fictional work "real." If you've seen any of the "Guide to Pern" books, you know what I'm getting at. So I'm going to be working on these things along with Book 2 while I'm sweating out the "query process." Right now though, I think I'll get some fresh tea.....

	Afternoon all! It's been a busy morning but things are beginning to settle down. As soon as Skywise heads out, I'll be printing out my query letter and synopsis and getting them ready to mail tomorrow. Skywise will take it to work with him tomorrow and eliminate one step in the mailing process -- from our town's post office to the sorting facility in Indianapolis. After that, I've plenty to keep me busy. Right now, I've got a couple of things to do before Skywise leaves. Later.

	The query letter and the synopsis have been printed, proofed, corrected and reprinted. They currently reside in an "as yet" unaddressed envelope to protect them from rampaging, unstoppable ninja cats! I make out the SASE and the mailing label a bit later, go over everything one last time and..... mail it tomorrow. Also omm: McCall's M4745. I think I like the Confederate uniform coat the best of the two. Done up in black with, I'm considering, some silver braid on the collar and silver colored buttons, it should be a good start for the dress uniform of the Order of Dark Knights. Should the shoulder sash be blood red or metallic silver? I've about decided to be really evil and specify knee high black boots, a.k.a. English Riding Boots. Usually expensive but they look soooooo cool! The trousers would have to be narrow enough to fit in the boots and I'm thinking that a line of blood red piping down the outer seams of the pants would be striking. Formal cloak... Haven't found a pattern yet but it will be mid-calf length, black and lined with red. The War Queen wants my attention. Later.

	I've been talking to Nike about my "emergency" advice concerning prescriptions. I've given her the link, hopefully she'll have time to check it out. She had the late shift tonight and she has the early shift tomorrow. If I didn't know better, I'd think that she worked for the Post Office! 	Greetings. The query letter is on the way. We had to run into town for some things so we just took it to the local post office. Now I wait. It will take three days to get to its destination so it should be there on Friday. How long it takes to get a response will depend, I guess, on how many queries are ahead of mine but it will take three days for the response to get back to me. With Sunday in there, I can't expect to see anything before next Wednesday at the absolute earliest.... We need a "pacing the floor" smiley. A "nail biting" smiley would be good too. 	Have tea. Had chocolate chip cookies -- only 2! -- and Skywise is getting ready for work. Gonna have to find ways to burn off this excess nervous energy or I'm gonna go berserk! Need to copy the manuscript. The copier has more ink in it at the moment than the printer does and I have a very good copier so through the copier it will go. Need to work on Book 2. Need to clean in the basement. STILL a lot to do before I can turn that space into a dance practice/exercise studio. Need to do laundry while the ground is pretty dried out -- Sinister Bog will drain out faster. That should keep me busy for a while, especially when you throw in all the usual "mom stuff" I have to do today. I'm glad Nike will be home early tonight. I'm gonna need someone to listen to me while I bite my nails! [Figuratively! That's one bad habit I managed to break!] And if she needs me to listen to her, well I can do that too! Skywise is getting ready to leave and I need to start DOING something! Book 2 maybe... Later.

	Working on Book 2. Already found some typos and places to "tweak." Gonna have to find a point when Our Heroine has the opportunity to really cut loose and "rock and roll" with the magick. Might be a suitable spot in the latter half of the book. Need to make the readers fall back on their butts and go "WHOA!!" If not in "2", there should be plenty of opportunity in "3." Back to work... 	Chapter 1 is finished and I'm making good headway on the laundry. I've started on Chapter 2 and will likely work on it through dinner. If tomorrow's weather is as predicted, much crashing and banging of the thunderstorm variety, I won't likely to have the computer on, so I'll work on the basement then. The only problem Im having is the need to keep FIRMLY in mind how the current situation in Book 2 turns out! Otherwise, it WILL make me cry! I am SUCH a softie! Later.

	Afternoon! I was more tired than I thought! Of course, Skywise kept me up a while longer than I'd planned! But, then he let me sleep in this morning so it evens out! I finished Chapter 2 before I quit for the night last night, so I'll be working on Chapter 3 today. The weather is supposed to get "interesting" later so I'm going to work while I can. Right now, a bit more breakfast seems in order. Later.
