Turquoise started being used before 4000 BC
The name was given when it was discovered by the crusaders in Turkey which is why it is named turquoise. although it was used by ancient Egyptians and Greeks as well as Native Americans. Medieval beliefs was it gave peace and happiness,vitrue and loyalty to women and success to men. Navajo use powered turquoise along with powdered coral to create sand paintings and bring rain. Many cultures used it to protect the dead.

A ring made of turquoise is very protective and help with health matters.

astrologically it is linked with either aquarius or scorpio,sagititarius/pisces.

The stone corrisponds to the planets Venus and Neptune and the metal Gold

Hathor, of the House of Horace was a woman with the ears of a cow. She was also the goddess of the desert and the Sinai turquoise mines.

Aztec
Xiuhcoatl (the Turquoise Serpent ) was the burning weapon used by Huitzilopochtli (the Sun God) to kill his older sister Coyolxauhqui, who was attempting to murder their mother as the Sun God was being born.

In Indian folklore it is said that there was once a chief with turquoise colored skin. One day he was running from his enemies in the hot desert. Whenever he stopped to rest, his perspiration ran onto the ground, collected in rocks and became turquoise.

There are many legends about Turquoise; The Pima consider it to bring good fortune and strength and that it helped overcome illness. The Zuni believe that blue turquoise was male and of the sky and green turquoise was female and of the earth. Pueblo Indians thought that its color was stolen from the sky. In Hopi legend the lizard who travels between the above and the below, excretes turquoise and that the stone can hold back floods. The Navajo consider it as good fortune to wear and believe it could appease the Wind Spirit

Many believe it has the power to strengthen convictions, courage and personal powers.

different types of turqoise are
1. natural turquoise: which is very brittle not very goodl for polishing/cutting

2. stabilized turquoise: is natural turquoise with a little of artificial transparent (non coloured)artificial resin, protecting it from breaking apart. used in most tumbled stones, many rough stones even, better turquise-jewelry

3. reconstructed turquoise: is the powder of turquoise from the cutting of the stone, mixed with larger quantities of artificial resin (which often containes dye to intensify/alter the colour of the stone). used in most "genuine turquoise" jewelry

4. dyed stones: often dyed magnsite or howlite, or even pebble. easily distinguable by weight from the real thing. although blue dyed howlite often develops certain abilities of turqoise .

5. artificial resin products, plastic and other immitations. often only detectable through tests like cutting the stone, burning it etc. these are completely false.

Sky blue shades belong to the Sun and Venus Ice blue shades to Saturn Green blue shades to Uranus

Because of it's copper it's sometimes not really recommended in elixirs due to it's copper.
