Library-type forum?

Color me blind, but I don't think we have a specific forum for something akin to a digital library ... to post free and in-the-public-domain works up here, either full texts as threads or as links to pages or downloads. I usually am quite fond of such forums, so...yes. That is my suggestion.

(Of course, if I missed it, forgive me -- still not 100% used to everything here, lol.)

I was thinking today that a "reference library" might be a good thing to add. I'd like to wait until we get the upgrade done (yeah, I know! Damned 'real life'!) before we add it because of the amount of files that we have that are going to have to be moved already. I'll fire off an email to the TechGod and see what he thinks.

In the meantime, let me think. It could be that links to sites/downloads wouldn't add that much to our "data total."

Ahhh, gotcha. Well, I'm glad it'll be taken under consideration. I always love having that type of reference handy.

Yeah, references are handy.
Which is why I have about 450 (at last count) "occult" books in my personal library...

Okay, I've heard back from our Illustrious TechGod.
They've got a real life situation that they have to get out of the way first. The upgrade is STILL gonna happen but until this pressing problem is out of the way, it is on hold.
I think that a library is a good idea and as soon as the upgrade is done, I'll get a forum set up for it.

I don't know exactly when it will be going up but if you want to start collecting material to have ready, go ahead.

As far as I know, the 2.5 version of YaBB (which is what we're upgrading to) doesn't allow for "sub-forums" but I believe that the next version that the development team is working on will. So when you (or anyone else) starts adding to the library, you might keep that in mind 'cause when we DO have the ability to create sub-forums, library materials will probably be the first things sorted into them!

Smiley I've come up with a name for our library forum. It is "unique" to say the least and it ties in with the rest of Sanctuary's "Castle Novels" theme. I promise to get it up as quickly as I can after the upgrade. If D is able to give me enough warning, I may put it up just before he gets in here to start work so it can be carried over with everything else, so start getting your posts ready and as soon as I know, you'll know!
