actually i think  he is, cuz for it being the day before thanksgiving traffic was not horrible at all. the roads were crowded yes but traffic wwas moving very smoothly

Hermes IS on a roll over here too... According to Hubby, there are people driving like maniacs out in that snow and no accidents YET...

People over here always drive like twits during the first snowfall of the year. Somethings never change. Roll Eyes

Hubby doesn't though, he takes his time and if it takes him 3 hours to drive home 9 miles, that's okay as long as he gets home safely!

At the moment, I don't know if we're even going to put the tree up! The Princesses have taken over the place and, at the moment, we don't have anywhere to put it!

Get roasting pan out of storage. Check.
Wash the roasting pan.  Check.
Start oven preheating. Check.
Bring five gallon bucket of brine and turkey down from the Guest House. Check.  Special thanks to the birthday girl, Spirit for getting it for me.

As soon as the oven is hot enough, I'll rinse the bird, butter it up and put it in the oven.

Morning!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American members and our American friends and family! Enjoy your holiday everyone! Cheesy (It's just a regular day up here in the "Great White North"!)

It's sunny out there today!! It's a nice change from what we got clobbered with yesterday that's for sure! Temps are just above freezing and the snow is starting to melt. We didn't lose power or our satellite signal at all, which is a miracle considering how much sleet and freezing rain came down and how high the winds were last night! Temps are supposed to climb between now and the weekend, we're supposed to have 50 F temps on Saturday!! Thank the stars, cause that means this *white crap* will melt away and the roads will be better than they are now!! Cheesy

Schools are open here today but Son isn't feeling well so I kept him home to be safe. He's curled up on my comfy armchair, reading books and watching TV with his Daddy. Hubby has the day off so we're going to be keeping an eye on Son while doing our daily chores, etc.

I'm around on and off today while doing my housework and looking after Son.

Time to finish getting caught up. Tongue

It's cloudy, damp and chilly here -- typical November weather in Indiana. I'm going to get some tea and breakfast, clean up last night's dishes and then start baking. I'll be checking in but those of you who have followed my adventures over the years know that today is the day I cook myself into a coma!

Actually, it wasn't "pubic outcry." It was a "quiet riot" with vehement letters to the editor, irate calls to radio stations and people chopping their May's/L.S. Ayres credit cards into little bitty pieces! Bad enough that a Central Indiana institution had been bought by out of state Philistines but stealing that cherub was the last straw!! It was, for May's Department Stores, a public relations nightmare. The Ayres Tea Room which was also an institution in Indianapolis, lives on as part of the Indiana State Museum and most of the Christmas holiday window displays that the store had are there too. As a child, I remember my aunt (Mom's big sister) taking me and my cousin downtown after sunset so we could see the window displays in all the big stores (Ayres and Block's being the biggest) and, of course, the decorations on Monument Circle. The stores are gone now but the Monument is still there and will be lit up tomorrow night.

Skywise was just in the refrigerator, checking things out, when the Prince joined him, smelled the roasted turkey and the ham for seasoning the green beans and decided to make a closer inspection...
He jumped into the refrigerator. His aim was good, he landed on the shelf beside the turkey.  Fortunately, the bird is covered in foil and Skywise got him out of there before the Prince could do anything about that inconvenience!

That widdle monkey!! Noelle tries to climb up the shelves of our fridge sometimes, she smells the goodies like Son's nuggets that I have prepared for school, etc. She doesn't jump a lot (other than to dive bomb me!) because she has arthritis in her hips (she's 16 years old!) and she finds it hard to jump really high sometimes.

Might as well. Skywise nearly busted a gut laughing. He has the adults outside right now. The sun is "in and out" and it has gotten a bit warmer so I all have to contend with right now is the kits.

The apple pie should be done soon. Once it is out of the oven, I'll wash dishes while the oven cools off, then make the pumpkin pie. Once THAT one is out of the oven, it will be time to start on getting the rest of the food ready. Skywise said he'd be ready to eat when it's ready and I don't want him to wait too long!

If looks could kill, I would be dead right now...  Smiley

I had opened the window on the door to talk to Hubby while he was working outside and when I went to close it, it was stuck. Hubby opened the door to get the window down and kind of left it WIDE OPEN...

Amber was starting to make a run for it and I quickly nabbed her... I held on to her the whole time Hubby was working on getting the window unstuck and that furball was GLARING at me the entire time!

I swear if she could have burned holes into me with her gaze, she would have... And when I finally put her down, she gave me one HECK of a dirty look!  Smiley

Eh, better getting her ticked off at me for not letting her outside than something happening to her. She's now walking around HOWLING and I'm worried I may get dive bombed out of revenge............  Smiley
