Skywise has the superlate shift tonight for the first time in a long time. NOT that he's been getting home all that early these last couple of months. Anyway, I'll be taking advantage and downloading a couple of things later. I also took a couple of naps this afternoon so hopefully I WILL be able to stay awake until he gets home.

Skywise is home and we're between storms.

Afternoon. The second round of storms didn't amount to much or at least I didn't hear it. I slept like the dead but didn't get nearly enough sleep. We had to go to the bank -- again -- and move money around and get the girls' cash from their accounts. There is DEFINITELY a nap in my future today. At least Skywise is working the early shift the rest of the week so we can get to bed more or less "on time" tonight.
Time to get caught up.

Okay. FINALLY found it. I can now go to my nap and not obsess about it!

Morning. Finally have a chance to post. Not a lot going on -- which suits me 'cause it's been a "run, run, run!" week so far. Hoping that Skywise will have both Saturday and Sunday off. The schedule isn't out yet so we don't know.
I'm going to head up to the Guest House for a bit to do some work on the storage unit now that the Urban Terrain Utility Transport is finished. I've concluded that I can't do a whole lot of cleaning downstairs until it's done so I better get busy!

My internet service provider seems to be having issues this afternoon. If things don't clear up damned fast, I'll be offline for a while. That might happen anyway if it keeps being temperamental. So if I'm not around when you think I should be, that's why.

For Canada Day here they beat the Guinness World Record for largest Poutine, and it wasn't too bad either, very nice gravy   We were just glad to have a sunny day , finally.  Though, I could do without this sun burn :/

The boys are done school!  Oldest with "Distinction" from College, after they treated him like crap no less, so WHOOT for him!  Youngest got a Fine arts in Media and Vocal arts distinction for his High School diploma so WHOOT!  Who knows where they'll go from here.  This summer we will finally get that wood flooring installed upstairs to replace the carpet because I will have two young men who like having a place to live to help me  

We just had the worst month for rain ever in the history of Brandon.  The good news is, our basement has only been damp, no water in it at all!  No sewer backup either.  Bad news being there has been an astonishing amount of overland flooding in the province.  The worst is that the river is expected to crest 6ft higher than it is now, next week.   This means it will be flooding the rest of our flood plain.  Even with many roads washed out already, the city is going to allow the 1a out  of here to flood so there will only be one road in and out of Brandon.  In my view that is short sighted and a very potentially huge problem.  So we'll see how that goes next week.

In other good news we will be getting the roof done within the next month, for a reasonable price.  And hopefully be replacing the kitchen counter and sink too.  Next year we can look at flooring and windows.   

And I have a new smile...  it needs some adjusting to stay put but I do have them now.  Starting to feel like a human again

Now it's time for gardening and weddings and anniversaries :S  going to be a busy summer!  But I should have time to spend a bit more on-line now that I don't have to worry about getting people out the door for school on time anymore

I will do a bit of catch up reading to see what's new.

RT, I've been hearing about the flooding out your way... HOLY SMOKES. *SIGH* That's why I'm so darn glad NS is at the top of the Appalachian range, VERY hilly here and flooding is ultra rare except for in spots like the Annapolis Valley. We do get localized flooding but nothing like y'all have out on the Prairies.

Just please... STAY SAFE!!!!

People in my area aren't patriotic either... Fireworks in town are AWFUL and the best place to see them is in a village about 30 miles away, unless you go to Halifax. We did have the neighbors across the road setting some off the other night but that was it. Normally we see fireworks back here on New Years' Eve, that's it.

I'm working on getting the most recently finished manuscript ready for the Alpha team over the weekend... I hope to have that out LONG before my deadline of July 20th... It's been too darn humid to write even at night and the mosquito population seems to like to distract me when I'm up late... I'll just save any writing for when the guys are both gone I guess.

Staff party on Saturday is CANCELED due to the stupid hurricane heading our way. No idea if it's going to be rescheduled or not. We'll just have to see I guess.

My eyes are killing me. Time to go close them for a while. The Queen will certainly appreciate that!

I've been up for a bit but busy. I'm getting the folding chairs out of storage and I'll be making deviled eggs later. The fireworks start at 10 tonight so we'll probably be leaving here between 9 and 9:30 pm.
