	I've found a piece of plywood that's about ⅛th of an inch thick and it's just right for making the shims I need. So I'll be working on that in about an hour or so. THEN the "table top" will be securely attached to the storage unit. It's just the right size to hold my dinner tray or write checks on so here's another idea of mine that's turning out to be a good one.

	So we were sitting in the local McDonald's today [Don't scold! We don't go THAT often!] and from where I was sitting, I had a clear view of our van and the mural painted on the side of the building next to the parking lot. It was about a fifty feet from where I was sitting. As a quick test, I closed my left eye, looked with my right one and things looked pretty good. I closed my right eye and looked out my left and saw nothing but out of focus blobs of color. sigh The vision in my left eye has REALLY deteriorated. I told Skywise about it and I hope that we can get my exam in during our September vacation. I know the doctor will want to dilate my eyes and it takes me forever to clear that stuff out of my system. It would be REAL handy for him to be around while my eyes are too dilated for me to do anything except lay on the bed wearing my eye mask.....

	The extra top is secured to the storage unit so I don't have to worry about a cat knocking it off. Took the entire afternoon to get the dratted thing on and straight but it's definitely "on" and as straight as I can get it without losing my mind which was a near thing a couple of times this afternoon. Now I'm going to take a break and then do some laundry. I had a couple of other chores I wanted to get done today but they're going to have to wait until tomorrow because after an afternoon of sawing, fitting, drilling and finally putting screws in and taking them out I don't know how many times, my hands are tired!

	Back! I was finally able to get what I was needing to finish the storage unit so assembly will occur this week. I need to get more shelves for it but I have three and that will be enough to assemble it and start loading it. THEN, next Saturday or the one after, I'll get what I need to start my next project -- a freestanding "wall" of bookshelves. The complete unit will be a little over 12 feet long which is half the width of the basement. The best part is that if we ever need to move it we'll be able to disassemble the whole thing without using any tools. It's the same system that I used to make the computer desk and another set of bookshelves so I know it works. It's a time consuming way to build but if you know that you might have to haul a piece of furniture up the stairs and out of the basement, then the extra effort is worth it! For the moment though, time to catch up and drink tea!

	Spirit just scared the hell out of me. I heard a funny "thunking" noise and went to investigate. She was at the edge of the woods with the long handled ax chopping on a fallen log! She wasn't lifting the ax over her head but STILL! If she'd missed, she could have cut her leg very badly. I told her to put the ax away and she did. Hopefully she won't get any more bright ideas today...... (More !)

	Just put a load of Skywise's shirts in the washer which reduces the "laundry mountain" by about half. The next load -- his pants and socks -- will probably take it down another third. In other news, I'm glad an Agents of SHIELD repeat is on tonight. I need the distraction.....

	Belt bag and backpack are packed. I'll be taking the cane and a knee brace along tomorrow. The State Fairgrounds are HUGE and while there are trams/trolleys running there is STILL a lot of walking to do. The porkburgers are worth it though......

	Morning. It's clear and cool this morning and I'm not TOO sore from all the walking yesterday. It's going to be a busy day/week so I'd better get started! 	I'm sitting here thinking that I should have Skywise install GIMP on this computer. He didn't transfer it when we got this one because I wasn't using it but it looks like that will be changing. I think I'll have him put it on Moonie's comp too so she can play around with it if she wants.

	Ah. Iz happy. I went up to the Guest House and got a lot done on the storage unit. I "should" be able to finish up the work I have to do on it up there tomorrow. Then all that will be left is "assembly" which has to be done down here in the basement. So I'll probably be working down there this afternoon clearing space and getting things ready.
