	It's been a quiet evening. I've been pouring over recipes and doing math since I'm going to be doing some experimenting for Thanksgiving. I'm going to be making the turkey in the crockpot rather than roasting it since soaking it in brine is now completely out of the question. I'm also going to be experimenting with making a larger apple pie (I usually make a 10 inch pie) because in less than a month I'll be making pies for Skywise to take to work for the pitch in dinners and everyone would probably appreciate it if they were bigger. So I've gotten some disposable foil 12 x 9 inch cake pans (with lids) to put them in and I need to make a bit more crust for pies that big. Which is where the math comes in. I may not be a whiz at balancing the checkbook (Skywise took THAT over a long time ago!) but I have no peer when it comes to "kitchen math." LOL

	Skywise is on his way to work and he called to report that a large tree belonging to one of our neighbors to the north fell over the road at some point last night/this morning. It's been cut up and he was able to get through but it's a good thing we didn't try to go into town this morning. If we had we'd have had to take the very long route!

	Afternoon. Back from town. The electric bills were due on Black Friday and the REMC office will be closed then so the bills had to be paid today or tomorrow so.... we went in, paid them, picked up a few things at Wal-Mart and had lunch. Skywise has figured out what's wrong with Spirit's television set (broken connection on the antenna wire) and he'll fix it as soon as he gets the needed parts. We also got a suet hanger and some things I needed for another project so we're all set for "projects" after the holiday.

	Still conserving megabytes although I'm getting a lot done in preparation for the "Turkey Day Cook-A-Thon" that starts tomorrow. I'm getting a few other "non-cooking" things done too. I'm hoping that once my brain isn't obsessed with dinner prep, I can concentrate on "monster hunts." I HAVE been trying out ideas in my head and I've got at least one that HAS to be written up and used. I'm just not sure if it goes in "Demon in the Dark" or the untitled Lovecraftian horror story that I'll be writing at some point soon. Decisions, decisions...

	The turkey is in the crockpot -- trying something new this year -- and I still have a pie to make but I need to get prone. I've been on my feet a lot today and tomorrow's gonna be worse. Besides, the Queen wants me!

	The turkey is out of the crockpot and in the fridge. It's still pretty hot but with five curious cats in the house, I don't want to take chances. The apple pie is done with adjustments made to the recipe. Dishes still need to be washed and I want to make the filling for the pumpkin pie tonight so that will be one less thing to do in the morning. As it is, I'm beat.

	Happy day! My package from China FINALLY made it through customs, arrived in Indianapolis and was promptly processed and put on the truck to the local Post Office along with another package that I've been tracking. Friday should see a full mailbox.

	The pumpkin pie filling is made and is safely in the fridge. All I'll have to do in the morning is make the pie shell, pour in the filling and bake. Things will be a little busier in the afternoon but.. it's a "feast day" so it is to be expected.

	Afternoon. We went into town for a light lunch although the triple cheeseburger I had wasn't exactly "light" but I was lightheaded and headachy so I thought serious protein plus caffeine and high fructose corn syrup would help and Skywise agreed and I did feel better after eating. I guess even a moderate fast does not agree with me. Anyway, I'm checking in before I begin the final push to get dinner ready. I'm aiming to have it done between 3:30 and 4:30 -- sooner if I can manage it.

	I have rested, taken aspirin (the knees and back were killing me) and digested and I'm now back on my feet -- for a few hours at least! I've yet to sample the apple pie I made and it's calling me so I'll probably continue overeating. Oh well, I only cook like this once a year. Oh, and the crockpot turkey was a HUGE hit. My turkey roaster is officially and permanently retired.
