Full report time: My eyes aren't quite back to normal yet -- the light over the comp is giving me a headache -- but I can see well enough to do this. I saw an ophthalmologist today for a thorough exam -- which is why my pupils were dilated -- and my eyes are in good shape for being as nearsighted as I am. (The doctor was a bit taken aback by just how bad my eyesight is.) Anyway, my eyes are in good shape, no bleeding into the eyes or torn/tattered retinas... but....
I am developing cataracts in both eyes. This did not surprise me. My mother had cataracts (which is a risk factor for me) and I have light colored eyes (which is another risk factor) and I'd probably be farther along to being blind if I hadn't started wearing sunglasses every time I step outside -- and sometimes when I'm inside -- since I was told over 25 years ago that I was at increased risk. So he wants to see me again in a year so I probably won't be having surgery before then unless something dramatic happens but I'm rather looking forward to it. NOT thrilled about the "being conscious" during the procedure but the rest of it, yeah.
No, I'm not crazy! I asked the doctor and he confirmed that when the surgery is done a "corrective" lens can be put in my eyes rather than a regular lens. It wouldn't correct my vision to 20/20 (that may not be possible. It isn't at present which is okay. I've forgotten what 20/20 is like.) BUT it would allow me to get glasses that are less strong than what I'm wearing now. They would weigh less and probably be less expensive. It would be like wearing contact lenses and glasses to get the maximum amount of correction.
So, in a year or two -- depending on how the cataracts progress -- I'll be having eye surgery. hehehe I teased Skywise when I got out of the exam room. I told him I "had him beat." I have two cataracts and he only has ONE!!

It's gonna take two pair of glasses -- IF I can get the second pair -- to do the work of one pair now. And if I can't get the second pair, being on the computer will be difficult, maybe impossible....

HATING April 1st and not because of pranks.

Thanks to a miscommunication between EyeGlass World and the ophthalmologist's office for about 20 minutes this afternoon, I thought that I wouldn't be able to get new glasses AT ALL! Smiley Fortunately, they got it straightened out, the additional prescription that EyeGlass World needed to make my prescription reading glasses was sent to them by fax and the order for both pairs of glasses should be at their lab by now.
I REALLY hope that I have "corrective" cataract surgery before I have to have my next set of new glasses made.....

Afternoon.
I slept in this morning and it was wonderful. I've been awake for over an hour and my eyes are already hurting and that's NOT so wonderful. *sigh* We have thunderstorms in the neighborhood so I'll probably be offline a lot which considering the state of my eyes is probably a good thing.

Greetings.
It has been raining like hell -- Celestial Firehose -- for most of the last two hours. It cut loose right after we went into Walmart and is just now letting up and the sun's trying to come out. Of course, there were no umbrellas in the van. Spirit took them out the last time the van went into the shop and didn't put them back. So we all got wet. None of us will melt but it's still uncomfortable.
Now I'm going to check the radar and get caught up.

Found another van in Ohio. It's a later model than the first one and about half the price which considering that the first one is seriously overpriced is definitely a point in the second one's favor. I'll let Skywise know about it when he gets home.
