Dinner's over.

Today I got some craft supplies that "should" keep me busy during the "cold months". I got them today even though I won't need them for a while because when I need them, they might not be available or I might not be able to get to the stores. After all, the way things are going even if I could get to the stores, the supply trucks might not be able to. "Resupply" of some items has already been pretty spotty.....
So... I got what I'll need for a couple of future projects.

Afternoon.
This is the last Sunday and the next to the last day of Skywise's vacation so I'm shifting into "non-vacation" mode.
First load of laundry is ready for the dryer.  Smiley
The next load will be in the washer shortly.
Skywise is outside somewhere enjoying the day on my orders. It's a beautiful day today and who knows how many more there will be before spring? So I told him to get out and enjoy it while I get stuff done! And so far, things are being checked off the "To Do" list at speed.

Since the load in the dryer is almost done, I've started the second load of wash.
I don't like having wet clothes sitting in the washer.
It's too easy to forget them.
Especially around here.

Time to move the dry clothes to the bed and the wet clothes to the dryer.
I'm on a roll.

*sigh* Skywise and the girls went for pizza and the car started leaking coolant. They made it home, fortunately, since it's Sunday night and all. The only bright spot is that the damned hose decided to split and leak tonight on the way to town and NOT on Tuesday when Skywise will be driving to work! It's serious but not a HUGE thing but it IS annoying as hell given the other automotive trials we've had lately....

Skywise has grumped that this is the third repair the car has needed in the last six months and the damned thing isn't even paid for! We put a lot of miles on it but... still!
We've never had this much trouble with a Ford!

FYI: The Dinkmobile is a Chevy....  Smiley

Afternoon.
The car goes into the shop on Monday. Skywise will be using the van until we get the car back. *sigh* Another aggravation we don't need. Seems like it's been one after another for weeks. (Covid-19 aggravations don't count.)
Currently finishing up the "getting ready to head back to work" chores.

Morning.
Lazy day so far.
Skywise is getting himself mentally prepared to go back to work.

I've been looking over the last year of entries on here.
Thursday, the 15th will be the one year anniversary of my diagnosis. I can't decide if it seems like "yesterday" or feels like "forever".

Skywise is on his way. He's using the van due to the car, once again, needing to go to the shop. Granted, he's put a lot of miles on it but he did the same with the Fords and we never had this much trouble with them!

Life just keeps getting better and better.
I've just discovered that we have no water. Power's on, all the lights are on but no water.

Trying to track down some information from posts made "back in the day".
Damn, I miss DK and Bladey... Cry

Can't get through to Skywise. The office line at the Post Office keeps giving me a busy signal.
Maybe telepathy will work....

Finally got through to Skywise.
He's not happy.  Smiley Smiley Smiley Smiley
I haven't called anyone yet 'cause, frankly, it's been so long since we needed a plumber I don't know who to call. Everyone we've worked with before could be out of business/retired for all I know. We'll get started on it in the morning.... along with everything else. *sigh*

The local heating/cooling/plumbing place is still in business so I sent them an email -- couldn't figure out which of several phone numbers would be the best to use. So now, I wait.

I've added a few new smileys, some weather related, to the list. I don't know, I may add more if I find any that tickle me.

Edited: I've just found out the smileys don't work like they are supposed to. Damnit.

Afternoon.
Skywise was able to get the pump running after he got home last night -- at 5 am in the stupid morning! We will be using water sparingly until we're a little more convinced that it will stay on.
Since the day was shot anyway (we didn't get up until 10 am) we went into town and got as much done -- which was a lot -- as we could in the time we had. He'll be leaving in about half an hour. Smiley
Getting caught up now...

I am SO tired of the epidemic of "stupid" in the world. People not having basic life skills -- like cooking for instance. Or wanting "free (expensive) stuff without realizing or ignoring the fact that SOMEONE HAS TO PAY FOR IT. Granted, the Federal Reserve has been creating money out of thin air for years and some people with no idea how money works believe that all that needs to be done is "print/create more money." Thing is, put enough of this funny money into circulation and the overall value of it drops. Example: It takes $5 to buy what used to cost half as much. Don't get me started on "hyperinflation." It is, basically, inflation on steroids. LOTS of steroids.

Anyone who believes that "the State" or "the Collective" should take care of them and provide for all their needs regardless of how much or how little they contribute is living in a delusion. If you know you are going to get "X amount" of money, goods, services, etc. regardless of your contribution, many/most people will contribute the bare minimum and leave it to others to make up the difference. Eventually, the ones making up that difference are going to look around and say: Why the hell am I working my Smiley off to support these bums who get the same things I do with less work?
Then you know what happens?
That person cuts back, does the bare minimum and keeps the same standard of living --- until "overall production/effort" drops below what's needed to maintain that basic standard of living. THEN everyone's standard of living drops. The cycle continues until the majority are living in abject poverty, no better than slaves, except, of course, those who have lied, cheated and stole to get to the top of the economic "food chain". They are living in luxury while those below them starve. Any attempt to correct the situation is repressed with force, usually deadly force, to cow the masses into submission.
More people than can be fed during a famine?
The elites must be fed so let the peasant/"comrades" starve or just execute them and be done with it.
Working them to death in labor camps until they die is also an option.

Communism on a large scale has never worked. Read history and NOT history that has been sanitized and/or completely rewritten hide that fact.
"Socialism" is "Stage One Communism" and doesn't work any better than communism. Anyone who believes it does, pays no attention to a.) history and b.) current events in countries that have a socialist system.
Saying that socialism/communism hasn't worked before because it "wasn't done right" demonstrates hubris of the worst sort (assuming that YOU know how to do what others have failed to do) or vast, incomprehensible ignorance. It doesn't matter if it's willful ignorance or not, it's STILL ignorance of both history and human nature.

"There is no such thing as a 'free lunch'."
"You can't get something for nothing."

These two truisms should be inscribed on mirrors, posted on walls and for some people, tattooed on their forearms!

Thus endth the rant....
