All Works included in the page, by all contributing authors is from here on out covered in the Fair Use Act. NONE OF THESE WORKS MAYBE REPRODUCED WITHOUT OUR EXPRESS PERMISSION; CHANCES ARE WE WILL NOT GIVE PERMISSION. **PLEASE DO NOT ASK US**

This is where you will find information on the Castle and the areas immediately surrounding it. I hope to eventually supply pictures or diagrams of the Castle but until then, a verbal description will have to do. I will be adding more detailed descriptions of specific rooms when I write them.

Castletown, the settlement growing up on the site of the area's former capital city, will have its own entry in the "Places" section.

The Land Area: The Castle sits in the center of a walled, square enclosure that measures 3 miles on a side and encloses 5,760 acres. The majority of the beings who look to the Keyholder as liege lord/lady live within this enclosure. A larger area, measuring 5 miles on a side and containing 16,000 acres is also considered under the Keyholder's control although some dispute this. Chief among those challenging the Lady Keyholder's claim to her lands is the Lady Mayor of the town of Crowhaven. Crowhaven is located ten miles northwest from Keyholder's Castle between the foothills of the Cold Heights Mountain Range and the River of Lost Dreams.

The Castle: (We will go around the perimeter first then fill in the middle.) The Main Entrance faces west. It is located in the center of the Western Wall and is 26 feet wide. The entire "Castle area" is surrounded by a limestone wall that is 65 feet tall and 6.5 feet thick. Because the wall was raised by magic, it is a solid piece of limestone broken only by the entrances and windows in the upper floors. It extends straight down to the bedrock and is fused to it.

To the right of the Main Entrance is a low (4 feet tall) wall that separates the Main Courtyard from the South Yard. On the other side of this wall with the main wall forming one side is the Tower One. This tower measures 65 feet on a side and is 91 feet tall (7 floors, 13 feet between floors). The first two floors are devoted to the Dayspa. The rest of the tower is residential.

Next to Tower One is the Parking Garage where all the Castle's vehicles are kept. The Garage is 65 feet by 78 feet and has four aboveground parking levels. Vehicle Maintenance and Storage is located in three underground levels. A paved parking area runs along the front of both the Garage and Tower One and it is about 45 feet wide. The Garage fits in the Castle's southwest corner.  An expanse of grass about 32 feet wide separates the paved parking area from the patio/terrace that serves both the Pub and the Castle's Ballroom.

The South Entrance to the Castle is here, 65 feet from the Garage. The entire entrace is 6.5 feet wide.
The Pub is located in Tower Two. It is located against the main wall, 91 feet from the front of the Garage. It is the same size as Tower One. The Pub takes up the first and second floors and the first sublevel of the Tower. The rest is residential. The Pub's staff live in this tower. The Pub is accessible from the outside terrace and from the ballroom. Sharing a wall with the Pub is the Theater (65 feet on the shared wall and about 58 feet to the east.) The theater can be used for both live or recorded entertainment. It is accessible from the Ballroom.

Sharing the south wall with the Theater are the Rest Rooms. The Rest Rooms are 65 feet along the shared wall and 19.5 feet deep. The space is evenly divided between the Men's and the Women's. The Women's Rest Room has the main Castle wall as its southern wall. Next is a hallway, 6.5 feet wide and 65 feet long that provides access to the restrooms from the Ballroom and to Tower Three.

Tower Three is the same size as Towers One and Two and it houses Security Operations in its first two floors. The dungeon a.k.a. Secure Holding is accessed from here. (Dungeon details yet to be decided.) The upper floors of the Tower are residential and are considered prime locations because of the view of the lake to the south of the Castle. Tower Three forms the southeast corner of the Castle.

Next, with the Castle's main wall forming its east wall is the Arcade. This room is accessible from the Ballroom and is shares a wall with Tower Three. The shared wall is 65 feet, the wall running north to south is 58.5 feet. All of the electronic/arcade type games are played here.

Next is the Game Room. The Game Room is for non-electronic games -- pencil and paper RPGs, chess, checkers, etc. It is 65 feet (on the wall shared with the Arcade) by 58.5 feet. It is also accessible from the Ballroom.

Next is the Keyholder's Tower. The Keyholder's Tower is where the personal quarters of the Keyholder and his/her family are located. It is the oldest part of the Castle. It has the same dimensions as the other towers except that it is 156 feet (12 floors) tall. The only access to the Reality Nexus under the Castle is through the Keyholder's Tower. The Main Processing Unit for the Castle's AI is also located in this Tower. The most sensitive/dangerous magical tomes as well as the personal records of all former Keyholders are housed in the Tower's library.

Next is the Main Library. The shared wall with the Keyholder's Tower is 65 feet. The other wall is 117 feet. Books, scrolls, recording media from dozens of realities are housed here as are the bulk of the Castle's computers.

Next is Tower Four which forms the Castle's northeast corner. The first floor is a private lounge area for the Tower's residents. The entire tower is residential and looks out over the Castle's vineyards -- another prime location. It is the same size as Towers One, Two and Three and it is accessible from the Public Lounge.

Next is the Public Lounge. This room is 65 feet along the shared wall with Tower Four by 52 feet. The Northeast corner of the room is occupied by the Transporter Deck. This area measures 32.5 ft. along the tower wall by 26 feet and the walls are specially constructed to contain both physical blasts as well as energy discharges. The teleporter platforms, the teleporter controls and the required emergency containment and decomtamination facilities are here.

Next along the north wall are the elevators. There are two, each measuring 13 feet by 13 feet.
Next are more Rest Rooms. Each Rest Room measures 32 feet by 32 feet. The Women's Rest Room is next to the main Castle wall. Both are accessible from the Lounge Area.

Next is Tower Five. It is the same size as the other Towers and Housekeeping Services are located here. Food preparation and storage, the laundry and some dairy operations are located here. The kitchen takes up the entire ground floor. Three lower levels are for food storage and a small cellar for wine, various beers and other libations served in the Dining Hall are kept here. (Another, larger cellar is located under the Pub.) Tower Five, sometimes referred to as "The Housekeeping Tower, is accessible from the Dining Hall and a patio/terrace that serves both the kitchen and the dining hall. This terrace is 32.5 feet along the tower side and 78 feet along the Dining Hall.

Next is the North Entrance. It is located 19.5 feet from the base of Tower Five and is 6.5 feet wide. Deliveries for the kitchen are usually brought in this way. Thirty-two (32) feet to the west of the North Entrance is the Pool Building. The Pool Building is 39 feet along the main wall by 26 feet. It contains a large heated pool. Since most beings using the pool change in their rooms before going to the pool, the changing rooms are very basic. The Pool Building is accessed from the outside and from the Training Hall.

Next is the Training Hall which forms the northwest corner of the Castle. The Training Hall is 52 feet on the north by 84.5 feet on the west. The Training Hall's ceiling is 19.5 feet tall. The upper two floors are the Armsmaster's Quarters. The Armsmaster and his family live here. The Training Hall is accessed from the Common and Tower Six. Statuary depicting Ares and Eris is on order from the Dwarves of Cold Heights Mountains and will be placed on the Commons in front of the Training Hall when it is delivered. Next to the Training Hall is Tower Six.

Tower Six is also known as "The Knights' Tower." It is the same size as the other Towers. Bachelor knights are quartered here. The first floor is used as a mustering area. There is a lounge on the second floor. The rest of the Tower is residential. The Tower is accessed from the Common and from the Training Hall. A wall four (4) feet high runs from the south wall of the Tower east to the Dining Hall separating the Commons from the Main Courtyard. Access between the Commons and the Main Courtyard is a 19.5 feet wide arched gateway located 58.5 feet from the southeast corner of Tower Six.

The Main Courtyard and Formal Gardens: The West side of the Courtyard is bounded by the Castle's Main wall. The entrance is located in the center and is 26 feet wide. Walls four (4) feet high bound the Courtyard on the north and south sides running from Tower Six to the Dining Hall on the north and from Tower One to the Ballroom on the south. The Courtyard is 429 feet north to south and 175.5 east to west. The main drive way splits in two around a large fountain (26 feet in diameter). Another driveway, 19.5 feet wide, branches off to the south, through an arched gate (19.5 feet wide) to the Garage area. The gate is located 78 feet from the main wall.

Three areas on the ground floor remain. The Dining Hall, the Great Hall and Entry Hall, and the Ballroom.

The Dining Hall is located in the Northeast corner of the Castle with the Library on the east side, the Public Lounge and a bit of Tower Five on the north side and the patio/terrace and Main Courtyard on the west. It is 104 feet north to south and 117 feet east to west. The ceiling is 26 feet high. The south wall is shared with the Great Hall. The Great Hall is accessed from the Dining Hall by three doors spaced evenly along the south wall. A fourth door leads to a hallway that leads to the Entry Hall and access to stairs to the upper floors and an elevator.

Great Hall and Entry Hall are located between the Dining Hall and the Ballroom. The Great Hall is 91 feet north to south and 97.5 feet east to west. The ceiling is 39 feet high with a mezzanine/balcony located 26 feet off the floor that encircles the room. The Entry Hall door is located in the west wall and the Keyholder's Seat is located directly opposite it on a large platform against the eastern wall. The only known first floor access to the Keyholder's Tower is eastern wall behind the platform. There are two doors spaced 32 feet apart. The actual Entry Hall is 26 feet north to south and 19.5 feet east to west with a 39 foot ceiling. The door to the Great Hall is in the middle of the east wall. There is a door in both the north and south walls of the Entry Hall. The northern door leads to the elevator, the stairs and the Dining Hall. The southern door leads to more stairs, another elevator and the Ballroom.

The Ballroom is located between the Great Hall on the north and Private Theater on the south. It is accessed from the Great Hall by three doors evenly spaced along the northern wall of the Ballroom and a fourth door provides access from the Entry Hall. The Ballroom is 104 feet north to south and 117 feet east to west. The ceiling is 39 feet high. There are also three large sets of French doors that open out onto the Patio/Terrace that the Ballroom shares with the Pub. There is also direct access to the Pub from the Ballroom. A mezzanine or balcony encircles the ballroom at at height of 26 feet from the floor.
