Trekkies, it's time to Rebel...

...because the IDIOTS at Paramount, choosing to ignore their mistakes (the Enterprise series, the last NextGen movie), have decided it's a super-good idea to make a prequel movie to Classic Trek.

http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/preview/1809752800

...which wouldn't be so terrible... but they're strongly considering Matt Damon to play Kirk.  Believe it or not, Shatner has APPROVED the choice.

http://trekmovie.com/2006/12/15/video-of-shatner-talking-trek-xi/#more-362

AND (yes, it gets worse) it's been suggested that if Damon accepts, that (I cringe even as I type this) Ben Affleck should be considered to play Spock.  Suggested, that is, by Kevin Smith, who OF ALL PEOPLE should freakin' know better.  My reaction when I read all this?

WHAT??????

Might give "The Incredible Hulk" a run for the title "World's Worst Big Budget Movie."

We have "Boldly gone there, and done that!"  Personally, I was hoping for a new angle.  Maybe called U.F.P.  It would be modeled after THE WEST WING.  Always wanted to see the political side of the ole Federation.  The dirtier, the better.  Cannot be a utopia everyday, now can it.  Die immediately and decay. Shocked

As long as Paramount thinks that it can make money, they will keep cranking them out. *sigh* Look what they did to "Mission: Impossible"......

I seriously thought they would make a future movie and one that was not like any other star trek. That's what would make it amazing! But no the decided to do an Enterprise thing an go back before the others or in a time that has been done pretty much. If Matt Damon AND Ben Affleck ar ein it it would just not be a star trek film. I would still watch it once because it is a Star Trek movie. I'll still have to see if it's any good or not. I'm hoping they make a future on after that. Smiley
