this is smoky black with maybe dark green to it. you could say it is a form of Caingorm quartz but
this would fall into one of those instances where you have a form of Quartz which is identical in all aspects to quartz from other locals close by (which makes sense seeing geologically the areas formed identically) but due to local beliefs and lore one area developed a rich history surrounding it while the others did not. For this reason you should treat the specimens coming specifically from the Caingorm Mountains in a way which respects these old beliefs which in all probabilities have imprinted themselves into the quartz.

This is the perfect example of what was discussed several times before.. that being that although a specific type of Quartz or structure of Qurtz may be found in several areas around the world they do develop slightly different personalities which are unique to the location they come from.

Here is another thing dealers are notorious for when it comes to English, Irish, Scottish specimens.... they confuse the areas and where the specimen came from and in many cases lable Irish as English, English as Scottish. Scottish as Irish and so on... you get the idea.

There is a form of Calcite cast which comes from southern England and which is unique to the area with nothing like it anywhere else in the area. I have seen several instances when a specimen from this find was for sale by someone in North America but it was labeled as coming from Ireland which is litterally impossible. When I questioned on dealer her reply was she thought the area was all the sme and didnt think much of it.

Unfortunately this happens more frequently with metaphysical sellers who may be more interested in the mythical/metaphysical aspects than in the location of the find. Most metaphysical suppliers can tell you every property of a particular stone but many have problems when you ask them where that specific specimen came from... it's a sad truth but one that if you are aware of it will make you a better shopper when worried about mining conditions, human rights abuses or countless other things.
