The name from Greek rhodon which means rosy. aka "A stone of love". and a "Rescue stone".

this is a black and pink stone. In some cases it will have gray as well. This stone is a manganese inosilicate. and the pink area is like rose quartz in that both form the pink coloring by manganese. The black areas are exposed manganese which is oxidized as the minerials form together.

One area it's formed is from Russia. most of it comes from the Ural mountains. other parts of the world it is found is Sweden and in numerous parts of the USA.
