Before I get too far along in fixing formatting errors, I probably should write the Book 2 synopsis that I need at the beginning of Book 3.....

I decided to go ahead and fix the formatting errors since adding the Book 2 synopsis will only affect the length of the first chapter and change the page numbers throughout the book but since the software handles that, it's not a big deal. I'm ready to start on Chapter 8 but the eyes are telling me to take a break and I think I will do that very thing!

I'm up to Chapter 9 and past the halfway mark in the manuscript. So far, I've "lost" a page in the page count and will probably lose another but I'll probably gain those back when I add the synopsis, maybe more by the time the final draft is done.

I am FINISHED with the first pass through Book 3! Smiley I lost a couple of pages off the total page count but I'll gain them back once the Book 2 synopsis is written and inserted at the front but I'm NOT gonna work on that tonight. I've got a couple of non-writing projects that need working on as well as the usual "household stuff." So unless a thunderbolt of inspiration strikes, it will be next week before I get back to it.

I'm going through Book 2 now since I have to write a synopsis of it and I'm finding minor things that need fixing and places where I can tighten things up some. It's already a page shorter than it was when I started. The only problem is that the first half of Book 2 is very strong emotionally and even though I wrote it and I know how it turns out, I am STILL crying when I get to certain spots. I'm working on Chapter 4 and it will be Chapter 8 before the "tearjerkiness" is over with. Yes, I'm keeping a box of tissues at hand...

I've finished going through Book 2. Tightening up the prose and making a few changes has cut 2 pages off of it. My memory is now refreshed enough to write a synopsis which I am NOT gonna start tonight! It is way too late. Next week is soon enough!

FINALLY....

AT 1:58 PM THIS AFTERNOON....

I got a response from the last agency I queried back in November.

They aren't interested.

Big surprise.

Nothing holding me back now but me.......

Agreed but it isn't unexpected and it's their loss although I would have appreciated it if they had been more prompt in their rejection!

Yeah. "Three to four weeks" the website said.
How about a couple of weeks over 6 months!

I got stuff to do this afternoon but this evening will see me at the copier running off a hardcopy on 20 pound paper to send to DAW. While I'm waiting on them, I'll get Books 2 and 3 in shape and prepare for "Plan B" which will be epublishing with Amazon in case DAW takes a pass.

I know it! Roll Eyes

Did you ever think about trying some epublishers like XOXO (not necessarily that one, using it as an example!)? It's set up something like the traditional publishers from what I understand, the only difference is the medium they publish the books in. I've done some research for myself (hard core romance) and I'm sure there are some out there who do sci-fi/fantasy publishing if DAW says no... Just an idea!!

There probably are, I just need to find one that meets my needs. The biggest "selling point" with amazon is that I can do the basic epublishing free of charge. That's why I've been going over the books so closely. I may be the only "editor" that sees them before the public does.

Understandable! From what I understand from my local friend who is epublished, it takes up to a year to get a story published via her publisher, once the story is submitted and accepted that is. I know you don't want to wait that long, you've waited long enough!  Smiley

Thanks. That I have! Smiley

With Amazon's epublishing, there is no "approval" as long as you aren't publishing hardcore porn or anything illegal. If you adhere to their standards for content, you can publish and the public will decide if your work is any good or not. So if DAW decides not to publish my book, I can have the first one in the kindle store as quickly as I can get it ready. And getting it ready will be very high on my list once I get the DAW submission sent off!

Yeah, that's true and it wouldn't take nearly as much time to get your books out there as it would through any publisher.

I'm still considering the option of epublishing too but I'd be going through a place like LS did, I dont' have the time or the patience to do the Amazon publishing! LOL

Real Life got in the way but I copied the first chapter of Book 1 this evening. Gods Willing and there isn't an overabundance of "real life" to deal with tomorrow, I'll get the rest of what I have printed out copied. I have about half of the manuscript printed out so once I'm done copying what I have printed, I'll print the rest of it. I'm hoping that I have enough printer cartridges. Might not be a bad idea to swing by Amazon tomorrow and order some more. I'm not sure when I'll be heading to the Post Office with this monster but I'm hoping to be doing it after the holiday on the 4th.

Everything that I had printed has been copied and I am almost finished with printing Book 1. I have about 240 pages to go, more or less. Then I'll have a marathon copying session and that part of the submission will be done. I still need to compose a title page to DAW's specifications and print that and come up with the rest of the submission including the dreaded "cover letter." *sigh* One thing at a time....

Okay...
Need a cover letter and a title page with my contact info and word count on it.
Self-addressed stamped envelope for the response.
Self-addressed post card for notification that they've logged in the manuscript.
That's all.
Response time 3 or more months. (They DO read the whole book, after all!)
Title page won't be a problem. Cover letter will need to be worked on since all I've been writing for the last three years is query letters.
With some luck and inspiration, I'll be mailing it the middle of next week.
I'll let you know when it goes out. Smiley

For the record. The word count on Book One is 226,606...
Yes, I'm a wordy little thing but dang it, I cut as much as I could without leaving anything important out!

And wondering if I should use my middle initial or not..

Giving some thought to my cover letter for DAW. Didn't make much headway today thanks to, once again, getting too hot while out on errands. Still aiming for a mid-week send off....

I'm still wrestling with the cover letter. Thanks to "real life" the manuscript won't be going out until next week some time. I am currently going through the copy I'll be mailing one page at a time to make sure that a.) all the pages are there, b.) they are in order and c.) they are all right side up and facing the same direction. Tedious but necessary....

I'm thinking that I really need to research the logistics of orgies/group sex.  Smiley I have several orgy/fertility rite scenes between Books 2 and 3 that probably could use more detail. So I'm wondering how to best go about that without delving into pornography or blushing to death.....
