I've stopped the torture for the evening. Still thinking about how much is enough and how much is too much.
Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

The "flaying alive" part is underway. I've already written the "burning alive" part so I think that the torture scene is almost finished. Yes, I'm writing it "out of sequence" and in bits and pieces. It's easier for me to handle, doing it that way. My ability to imagine what it would feel like is entirely too good.

The torture is done, finally, and I'm thinking about how the villains obtained their victim and how the she-demon that got tortured was captured.

I also tweaked something I wrote for Book 4 years ago and made sure that I was using the right term. Heraldry on Samgara doesn't follow the same rules as the S.C.A. but they overlap in spots so I feel safe in using their definitions if not their design rules.

The odds and ends I've added today have increased Book 4's word count by two pages. The "capture of the victim" part wasn't coming so I started working on something that will allow me to reveal a secret or two and some background. I'm stopping for the night because I haven't quite decided how much to reveal at this particular point in the proceedings. I may have to move this section closer to the front of the story. One thing I have to decide is at what point do the Tar-Neka rise and what specific circumstances cause them to rise. Who are the Tar-Neka and what provokes their wrath?
Read Book 4 to find out!!  Smiley

It's looking like Friday is gonna be more of a "thinking" day than a "writing" although if something cool and/or exciting pops into my head I will certainly write it down so it doesn't get away. I might have to start a separate word document if something manifests and I don't know where to put it. Something is stirring in my brain, has been for a couple of days, that I'm gonna have to put down so I can get some peace. It will be an important turning point in the story but I've no clue where it should go but about midway through the first half or early in the second sound about right.

*sigh* This would be easier if my unindicted co-conspirator DK were hanging around. A good sized piece of Book 4 is going to be as hard to write as the first half of Damnation and Trial was and that's saying something since I was in tears most of the time while writing it. His talent for making me laugh regardless of what was going on was priceless and much appreciated. Unfortunately, "real life" isn't just one bitch, it's a pair of bitches and it/they still have him in its/their claws. So until the "Bitches of Real Life" turn you loose my friend, be well. I'll be thinking of you.

No writing today.

There is nothing like being jolted out of sleep by your husband saying "I'm going to the hospital" (for an eye infection) and having him come home with the news that his blood pressure in unacceptably high and a 30 day supply of blood pressure pills (and drops for his eye) to really put you out of the mood for writing!

HOT DAMN!!!

I've figured out the sequence of events that comprise the second one half/one third of Book 4 and what do you know... IT HAS A HAPPY ENDING!!

I haven't been really sure how it would end but "happy" seems to have won the toss! Now that I know how it ends, I can start on getting my characters to that point!

I've added a page in the last hour and that PITA of a God is dead. The details of his duel with Our Hero still need to be fleshed out but he's dead -- his head rolling across the floor -- the Heroine has been rescued and revived with the traditional kiss (tried and true methods, ya know) and I've started roughing in the second handfasting. Who's getting handfasted? Wait and see! I'd keep on writing but it's getting late and the creative side of my cognitive functions is starting to shut down so it's time to quit. Besides, Skywise just walked in the door.

I've added about a page and a half so far today. Most of it is a conversation between Our Heroine and one of her uncles during which he gives her a rather unusual "weapon." The rest is bits and pieces placed here and there including a declaration of war.

I got a lot done today, not as much as I wanted but I roughed in several events that I can use as starting points so on the whole I'm pleased. I still have the details of a major "event" to figure out but they will come to me. Basically I have to write an episode of Mission: Impossible. I know what the "mission" will end up being but I still have to decide what it was supposed to be before the team finds out something unexpected and how they find out what they find out. Smiley *sigh* At least I got a couple of loose ends killed off.....

I've been looking at something I wrote in '06 and it's gonna need to be seriously tweaked but that can wait until I've gotten the one character fleshed out a bit more. Everything else is looking pretty good.

Despite my creative/cognitive functions being at low ebb, I've added a few paragraphs that cover some minor details and did some tweaking in a few places where I was typing fast and didn't always use the best phrasing. The air conditioner is going and it is much more comfortable in the house now so maybe after the nap that is definitely in my future, I'll be more productive. At the least, I want to get the particulars of that one character nailed down.

I was able to go to the point where I stopped this afternoon and expand on it to the tune of about a page. And after that, I realized that something that comes later in the story needed to be changed and I've fixed that. I don't know if I'll do any more work on it tonight. Our Hero is going to be put through a bodybuilding regimen that would do Tony C proud and then the REAL work will begin and I don't know yet how many pages I'm going to spend on that.

I added another paragraph about what Our Hero is currently going through while trying control my "weather nerves". I may expand it later or leave it as it is. I'm a long way from publication so there's time to decide.

Well, I made the transition between topics in a conversation that I mentioned elsewhere so I'm doing a modest "happy dance" about that. I'm also finding and correcting typos of the "wrong word spelled right" type that spellchecker doesn't catch.

I added a little to Book 4 today. Skywise has told me not to worry 'cause it will make me crazy and I'm crazy enough! So I'm trying, I really am.

I've added some important snippets of dialog and part of a scene since I've been trying to stay awake so I can tell Skywise that it's time to take his last dose of eye drops for the day. I'll expand on what I've written tomorrow. Right now, I'm ready to fold.

Crying. Been writing sad stuff. Mom used to call me a "tenderhearted bean" 'cause I cry so easy at sentimental things. And what I just wrote is a tearjerker.

Mother of Gods, I AM DOOMED!

I was writing along on something I wrote last night before bed and the writing, as it sometimes will, led me down a completely different rabbit hole than I was expecting to go down!
Book 4 may end up being Book 4 and Book 5 yet! Smiley

I've reached a "thinking point" in the previously mentioned "rabbit hole." I've known about this particular "surprise" underneath the castle since the beginning but I wasn't planning on exploring it this soon but it turns out to be the ONLY way to make this part of the story work. Since I have only a vague idea of how this "rabbit hole" is arranged/looks like, I need to do some thinking about what it looks like and how it's going to function. Where's my tea......

I managed to write some snatches of dialog and some "stage direction" today. There are a lot of holes in it yet but at least the part that's coming to me now is getting filled in. Hopefully by the end of the week, we'll have a few more answers about Skywise's health and I can settle down to write although I still have a ton of research to do and recipes to either redo or figure out the sodium counts on.

No writing yesterday -- I was too damned tired from all the running around -- but I did do some thinking of the "trying out and discarding of ideas" sort. At the point of the story that I'm working on now, Our Hero is about to jump into a whole new world -- literally! -- and I currently have no idea what that world looks like or anything about it except that the environment is chemically compatible with oxygen breathing/H2O drinking humans. So, I spent some time thinking about that world. I've decided that they don't have firearms yet so Our Hero will have to leave his handguns at home! That will probably annoy him but magick works so his feline sidekick will be able to throw magick around as needed. That was the extent of my creative endeavors yesterday. I'm hoping to do better today.

No writing again today. Mentally exhausted from the week's running around. Hoping really hard that next week will be better. Toward the end of Book 4, Our Hero will be killing a God, one that he's never met. I've already written that part and it is obvious that Our Hero recognizes the God when he shows up for what turns out to be his death scene. So now, I need to come up with an encounter between them at some point in the book so the "recognition" makes sense.

Still wondering where to put the "Hero gets "stuff" beat out of him" scene.
