I've gotten about a half page of new material added but my eyes are burning so a "close the eyes and snuggle the cat" break could be in my near future.

I'm managing to add some more new material and in the process, fill in the gap between two sections so they become one section. This is a good thing.

About to close another gap and I need to decide how much fire, flood, hell and high water that Our Hero is going to go through before he reaches his goal.

I haven't written much this week -- too much real life to deal with! -- but I just added a bit of dialog that will give me a place to start after real life has been mercilessly pummeled into submission. I was wondering where and how a certain character should make his reappearance and what I wrote today gets him back into the story.

I'm wondering what the protocol should be for a man proposing the formation of a group marriage to an established couple....

At some point, not exactly sure where, Our Hero is gonna be involved in one of those Asian style, bodies flying in all directions, one man/woman army, against all odds battles.
I'll probably be listening to AC/DC while I write it.

Yeah, I got "Bruce Lee's Fighting Method: The Complete Edition" today, hardcover. I am inspired!

Our Hero is working out.  Smiley Wondering how to work in a description of his rippling muscles without being too obvious since no women are present. Smiley
Aphrodite may have to drop in.....

I've added nearly a page of new material this afternoon -- no rippling muscles involved unfortunately -- which isn't bad considering I'm sitting here about half asleep. I'm reintroducing a character that hasn't been seen for a while for use in a situation that Skywise suggested several years ago. Should be interesting to write.

I'll admit it, since Skywise was diagnosed with high blood pressure, I've been slacking. Between industrial strength worry and getting the necessary diet/lifestyle changes "online", the adventures (romantic and otherwise) of the Lady Keyholder and the DarkLord have been pretty far down on my priority list. But I've presented "Agent Skywise" with the "Above TOP Secret" Sodium Files (The Salt is out there!) so that project is as done as it's gonna get -- at least until new restaurants or data come up -- so it's time to get back to work. The idea DK gave me is a good one -- it made me bawl when he suggested it -- and after a lot of thought, I think I can make it work in such a way that the readers will buy it. So tomorrow afternoon, while the washer or dishwasher is chugging away, I'll pull out what I've already done and see what jumps out at me. It's time to get back to work.....

Bits and pieces of Book 4 are starting to leak into my brain. For the last couple of months, my brain has been chasing its tail about weddings/handfastings/commitment ceremonies and things of that sort. Today, I finally realized why. A handfasting is the perfect lead-in/catalyst for a major "tying up of a loose end" as well as taking one of the characters in a somewhat new direction. It will also give me the opportunity to inject a little lightheartedness in a story that's going to need it......

Another "piece" has leaked into my brain, solving another problem I was having -- which was how to keep certain incidents secret when the castle's operations are overseen by a VERY observant Artificial Intelligence computer. The solution will require the creation of at least a couple more characters but only one of them will be "major" so that isn't too bad. Now I REALLY need to find that book on pagan handfasting. I won't be copying directly from it, obviously, but I want to see what others have come up with to deal with "real life" situations that are similar to what I'm writing. Google hasn't been much help but I'll keep refining my search criteria and maybe I'll get lucky.

I'm getting some "scenes" added to Book 4 -- about a page's worth so far. They'll need to be connected but having something on the page to work with will help. The entire summer -- since Destinies was published -- has been a total bust as far as writing is concerned. There's a good reason for that but I still feel like a slacker.

Problem: the conclusion of the scene is powerful but it gives another character too much power over Our Hero. The more I think of it, the more it looks like I need to use the "conclusion" as a catalyst for something else and then write a new ending to the original scene that doesn't put Our Hero at such a serious disadvantage.

I've solved at least part of the previously mentioned problem and have also added about two and a half pages of new material here and there throughout the manuscript. I've decided to table the whole "is it one book or two" question and just dig in and write the thing! I'll decide how many books I have once I see how long it is. If I find myself with a single spaced manuscript of over 700+ pages and there is a good "break point" somewhere around page 350, then I'll probably break it into two books. If not, I'll go with one book and see if I can tighten things up although it is my current intention to keep the prose as tight as possible as I've always felt that it is easier to add material than to cut it. I intend to cover a lot of territory in this one so 700 pages isn't out of the question. The only question in that case would be "is there a good place to end Book 4 and begin Book 5." Of course, if I end up doing my own publishing on Book 4/5, "length" will be the least of my concerns.....

Well, I've just ordered a couple of reference/dictionary type books to help with the "editorial" side of my writing. Since it looks like I will likely be the only "editor" that sees my work before it is unleashed on an unsuspecting population, it behooves me to do as thorough a job as possible in terms of copy editing and proofreading. As I told WD, I'm going to have to step up my game in those departments and THAT means "study."

My hands are screaming in protest just THINKING about doing anything like that... *WINCING*

But seriously, I have times like that and I wind up pacing the kitchen and talking it out, out loud, or thinking about it while I do dishes or chuck laundry into the washer or dryer.

Fortunately, my hands are used to it and haven't started to complain yet. Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones. Anyway, I'm making slow progress which is certainly better than NO progress.

I've been putting metallic silver bias tape on a table runner and while doing so, figured out how to wrap the scene I was working on up and connect it to the scene immediately following it. Now I need to expand the second scene so it flows into what comes after it.

I'm still sewing bias tape and working on just HOW Our Hero is made to do something TOTALLY out of character for him. "Mind control" is involved to be sure but I gotta make it believable. So I stitch and think and stitch some more.....

I'm currently sewing down bias tape and trying out one scenario to get my characters where I need them to be, doing what I need them to be doing. I'll see how it goes.....

The end of a difficult conversation has been written. NOW to fill in some of the "difficult parts" in the middle although that's coming along pretty well too.

I made good progress in some difficult "situations" and added nearly three pages of new stuff. I've got a long way to go but I've started and that's the first step.

The table runner is finished by the way. I did a LOT of thinking today! Smiley

It occurred to me on the way to the parade today that when the time comes to market myself and my physically printed books, that taking part in the parade and having a small vendor's tent to sell the books during the festival is definitely something to consider doing. Don't know how much it would cost and that will probably change between now and whenever I'd be doing it but it's definitely worth looking into.

Okay, I need to compose a handfasting ritual for three -- maybe two of them -- one of which will involve a "sort of" vampire. It cannot bear any resemblance to anything currently in use in this reality. *sigh* Although I'll be doing research to see what IS being done or at least what's in print.
