I've transferred the ritual I found word for word to a word document. *sigh* It's supposed to be "complete" but to me, it looks like "bare bones" that need a LOT of "fleshing out." Oh well, at least I have a place to start. Gonna take a bit of "roleplaying" to get the right mindset to write this which I'm probably not gonna get tonight, late as it is. Oh well, I have time.....

I worked a bit on the ritual, mainly figuring out what will have to be added to it to make it "Samgara specific." I'm also working on the aftermath of another kidnapping. It's difficult because the situation isn't what VE calls "Penth-friendly" and keeping myself from gagging while I write it requires writing in extremely short spurts. I'll get it done but it will take longer than it should.

In other news, I got a book today on editing your own work using the standards that an editor would use. I figured that it would be a worthwhile investment all things considered. I've got another book on order that is pretty much the last word on punctuation and "style" which I'm hoping will arrive soon. The tracking on the package isn't all that great. *sigh*

Hmmm.... Smiley Need to figure out why one character is confined in isolation while the rest of are being held in a group elsewhere. "Something special" planned for her, maybe?

I've added a bit more to the ritual -- the other was making me gag too much and I want to keep my dinner down -- and I'm slowly figuring out what needs to happen when and it looks like some elements of the source material are going to be jettisoned so other elements that I like better can go in. Bracelets instead of cords look like a viable option....

I've been thinking about the ritual and bracelets are definitely the way to go. Think about it. The "traditional" handfasting ritual involves tying the couple's hands together -- binding one hand each and leaving the others free. This is great for two people. They each have a hand free for lighting candles, handling a cup, that sort of thing. If you add a third, at least one person is going to have both hands bound and, depending on the sexual preferences of the people involved, you could end up with everyone's hands confined. Add a fourth or more and you can see the problem. So, bracelets it shall be. I already used bracelets in Destines so it "should" be a simple matter to expand on that but ya never know......

I've gotten past the "gag inducing" part of the section I was working on and if I can keep my mental distance from it I "should" be able to continue on through the mayhem that follows. Not doing too well with that right now though. Might have to switch to something else......
And I thought that writing about eating maggots was hard.....

Penth, I can handle a lot more than you can in some areas (I'm addicted to CSI, what can I say?), and not even I put the stuff into my stories that will induce your gag reflex. Tongue I "could", but I won't, to be safe. Wink

If you need something to help take your mind off of it, I "COULD" send you part of Chapter 16 from book 2....  Smiley

If it's ready for eyes other than yours, send it on.

Unfortunately, "it" is the key to a traumatic incident in the past that explains why Our Heroine's oldest daughter did something to herself that impaired her ability to work magick and it was the ONLY thing I could think of that would induce the necessary trauma given the way things are set up in my universe. I'm just gonna have to work in little tiny bursts until this section is finished. *sigh* I still have a flashback to do and if my gag reflex is as sensitive when I get around to writing it as it is now, it's gonna take a long time.

I have three pix of my #1 "Not Married To" Hottie on the desktop and it is barely enough....

Ah, I get it. That makes a lot of sense to me, because I've read Book 1 and know what can induce that kind of trauma in your universe. *SIGH*

Hehehee, it was sent to a friend of mine to cheer her up one day, and she said something I will NOT repeat on the main boards, it's too... "ADULT". LOL

Glad I could help. Wink

I've gotten most of one of the handfasting rituals written. Just the ritual itself, like you'd find it in a book of handfasting/wedding rites. The next step will be to splice it in and "personalize" it with the characters names, the setting, what they're thinking and feeling and things like that. But I've got down who says what to whom, what they do, when they do it and all that "technical" stuff so I consider the hard part done.

I added around six pages today but it was a bit of a "cheat" since the pages I've added are the handfasting ritual that I sweated out yesterday and it is by no means in the proper format for inclusion in a novel. Much adding of detail must be done before it is at that point. BUT it signals a definite shift in the dynamics of the relationships that will be reflected in any novels that follow this one although the next few books that I write after 4 is finished will be the "backstories" of the main characters. So Our Hero, Heroine and their family will be getting a breather from my complicating their lives!

Worked on the ritual section a little bit but I wasn't really into it. That probably means that I needed to relax the "writing function" today and think of other things, which I have.

I've added a few lines over a page of new material to Book 4 tonight while IMing with WD and listening to Sunday Night Football which Skywise is watching. Our Hero is in a bind, poor lad...
And it gets worse.....

Started working on another section tonight and I think I'm going to be cutting out more napkins and placemats tomorrow. This part is about battle tactics, something about which I have only a slight grasp and I'm gonna need to think about it and maybe bounce some ideas off of Skywise who knows more about such things than I do.

Thought of a way to make Our Heroine's life more difficult. Ebil of me but it will make for an interesting story.

Added a bit more detail to one section. Our Hero is beating himself up mentally and I added more of the details of his self-recrimination rather than just saying that he's doing it. "Showing" instead of "telling." That usually works better in most cases if you can do it.

My page count is up to 100 but not all of those pages are full. Still I'm at least one quarter -- more or less -- through the book. Of course that assumes a 400 page page count and I have no idea how long is thing is going to be. If it starts getting toward 700 pages I'll be looking at making two books out of it since I consider a book that long to be a bit much for easy ready but I'm a LONG way from THAT decision. I got some new material added today but that dang snake is still being uncooperative although it has carried its victim screaming into the jungle.....

I'm finally getting enough cooperation out of that dang snake to get the scene written up. It will probably need work when I start the second draft but at least I'll have something to work with and I've added enough to increase the page count again.

I haven't written much the last couple of days -- too damned much chaos around here -- but I hold out hope for the rest of the week. I may tackle the subplot/parallel storyline that I'm going to need. I have one paragraph on that and that's all. I'm gonna need about one hundred pages at bare minimum and I could end up needing more than that. I'll be using all new characters for it and I need to get them "in my head" before I can get them "on the paper." I'm also using a new city state that's been mentioned but never visited as the setting for most of the action and I have to get that figured out. I've been able to "cheat" a bit with the descriptions of other places -- aside from the Madridoor Twins -- but this locale is going to have to be fleshed out. I'm hoping for some quiet time so I can get the details settled.

Our Heroine is about to spend the night in bed with a man other than Our Hero. I'm currently deciding how detailed to make it scene. That may be a decision that I'll leave for later.....

Touching up various places in Book 4 and I'm thinking that I really need to gruesomely kill someone and soon. Yeah, it's been that kind of a week, it's only Wednesday and I'm in that kind of mood.....
