I still need to kill someone but no good opportunity has presented itself. I got a little added today once everyone (kids, cats and husband) settled down. It's not a lot and pretty pedestrian but I needed to go through the basics of setting up a household and getting some new characters introduced and they aren't the sort of characters that show up in the middle of a firefight to save the day.

Oh well, no mayhem and bloodshed today -- maybe tomorrow.

*sigh* Still no mayhem although I did add a little to the book today. I have the face of the character I need but no name yet. Hopefully, I'll hit on the proper name quickly as this character plays a relatively small but pivotal roll in the proceedings. And yes, I'm gonna kill him dead, dead, DEAD and probably gruesomely since Our Heroine will be out for as much blood of her enemies as she can get by that time.

Still trying to get back into the "writing groove." I'm currently working on a difficult conversation, one of many in the first part of Book 4. The latter part doesn't have many difficult conversations but it does have a lot of bloodshed but I'm saving that for later 'cause it isn't mapped out yet.

I think I might be starting to get my writing groove back. I need to stop writing and I don't want to... Smiley

That's usually a pretty good sign.

I haven't done much writing the last couple of days -- storm prep and all -- but tonight I moved a block of text to a better spot which makes it a lead in to another section. I'll need to stick a big confrontation between the two sections but I haven't gotten a handle yet on just how that should go but now I have what comes first and what comes after and that should help. I've also closed up a gap between two sections. It might need embellishment later but for now, it will do.

I figured out where a revelation that needed to be made fit into the narrative and wrote up said revelation in that spot. It needs to be expanded in both directions -- especially toward the beginning of the scene but with what I wrote today "in place" I can now write in either direction until it's all filled in.

I've added about two and a half pages of new material so far today. I'm not exactly sure how much since it's been a little here and a little there as I went through the manuscript and found places where a little inspiration struck and wrote until inspiration ran out. Then I went on to the next spot. It may not be a very organized system but it's worked for me so far.

I've added a little more to once section I was working on but I think I'll quit for the night. I find myself wanting to repeat myself and that is NOT good. So Book 4 is put to bed and I'll be following along in about an hour. I need to do a download and I have to wait until 2 am.

Been touching up and tweaking. Our Heroine has just declared "blood feud" against her foe and all his/her kin in both directions.... and the blood is gonna fly....

Book 4 is not coming easily. I don't know why I'm having such trouble with it but it ain't coming. Consequently, I'm gonna take a page out of VE's book and work on what "should" be a shorter project. My Heroine's life has been rather long and mostly adventurous so I've decided to work on a short novel about a pivotal time in her life from when she was in her mid-twenties. She's formidable in it but by no means as powerful as she is when she becomes the Lady Keyholder. I'll work on that and when inspiration for Book 4 strikes, I'll work on that until inspiration runs out. That way, I'll be productive and NOT feel like a total poser/loser....

Working on "First Death" today and I'm making some headway. I'm not sure how long that will last but I'll take it as far as I can or until my eyes give out for the day. The novel will cover about 40 days and the situation is similar to the Battle of Thermopylae but in this case, the defenders don't get wiped out.

I've added some things to First Death that have been rattling around in my head for a while. I haven't gotten to the place where Our Heroine meets her father for the first time and the incidents leading up to it yet. The details are almost worked out so I'll probably get it roughed in pretty soon. Right now, the cognitive functions are slowing down and it's gonna take all of them that I still have online to get dinner made.
Getting used to the super late shift always takes a while.....  Smiley

First Death is now up to a bit over 4,500 words. I'm currently writing what comes into my head -- or what has been rattling around in it about this story -- and most of it is in sequence. The only exception so far is a flashback to Our Heroine's childhood. I'm not sure where that's going to fit so I'm writing it up after the epilog. I'll put it in place once I know where "the place" is. It's a lot of unconnected scenes at the moment but once I have them all down -- and more keep coming -- I get them knitted together.

"First Death" is up to 5,915 words and I'll probably go over 6,000 tonight the way things are going. It's not taking off like a house on fire but it's moving along. I also added a little to Book 4 last night. It wasn't a lot but every word counts I guess.

I didn't get to 6,000 words last night -- the almost migraine shorted out the creativity -- but I'm up to 6,084 now.

I'm currently at 7,016 words and getting ready to get set up to watch Agents of Shield. I'll be up until close to 4 am tonight so I may add to the word count before I call it a night. I'm still writing "scenes" that I haven't started to seriously knit together yet although the gaps between a couple of sections have closed up. Things are going pretty well considering that I started this only a few days ago and have no outline other than a general idea of what needs to happen in this story.

"First Death" is up to 7,465 words and I'm packing it in for the night. The creative functions are still working reasonably well but the eyes and the fingers are starting to give out. I could get so much more done if I didn't have to sleep......

Packing it in for the evening. My ending word count tonight is 8,645. I could get a lot more done if I didn't have to sleep and had "staff."

I've a number of non-writing things on my mind tonight [weather, what else?] so I'm going to stop at 9,100 words. Our Heroine has just found out that her mysterious father is a God and that she's immortal. I've got to figure out how she handles that.... Smiley So I'm gonna leave that for tomorrow.

I didn't write yesterday or yet today. I needed to spend some time on "housewife-type stuff" and recharge the writing batteries a bit.
I picked up the current issue of Writer's Digest at B & N today. I subscribed earlier in the month but it will be March or thereabouts before it starts. I read it religiously back in the 80s before it became apparent that "Momstuff" was going to the priority for the indefinite future and that writing was going to have to be put on the back burner. A lot has changed in the writing business since then and WD is the best place to catch up. I've just glanced at the current issue and every topic looks fascinating so some of my "offline time" is going to be spent reading it.

I'm up to 12,010 words, most of it written today. I don't know if I'm done for the day or not. If not, at least I have part of a flashback written.

I'm up to 12,290 words now and I'm probably done for the night. The kitchen is a mess and dinner still has to be made and the cakes (we ended up with two) need to be frosted. I also have to get ready for "payday" which is tomorrow so I'm going to put First Death away until I have a good handle on all of that!
As a writer, I REALLY need "staff"!

I got a little written today in one of the flashbacks. Having to hide from the snow glare really cut into my productivity. The word count is now 12,766.
