If we had a TV and a satellite receiver, I'd take Son upstairs and lay down in front of the AC in the bedroom, it's humid as heck here today.

Good idea, keeping yourself hydrated will help. I was guzzling ice water earlier but am now having a glass of cold decaf diet Pepsi... One glass of that won't hurt tossed in amongst the water I've been drinking the last few days.

I think I may run the risk of getting heartburn and making my next glass of water with a slice of lemon in it for something different...

Lukewarm fluids do more to keep you hydrated and cooled off.

The cold fluid in the core causes blood to rush to the core to heat it back up.  Which means there's not as much in the skin capillaries for heat exchange with the outside air via sweat condensation.

Not as refreshing, sure, but sipping room temp water while you are cooling off is MUCH better (and can help with the effects of heat exhaustion/stroke).

Hot drinks actually help you cool off (if you aren't dealing with heat exhaustion/stroke), by raising your internal temp, causing you to sweat more.  Why do you think they drink hot coffee in the Cuban section of Miami all day?

I got the camp light in January and put fresh Duracells in it then so either there is a problem with it or "someone" -- probably Spirit -- ran them down.

Morning.
We finally got some rain early this morning, a thunderstorm that lasted for about an hour. It's partly cloudy now and Skywise and I are hoping for "self-destruct sunshine" conditions [essentially, the sun comes out and generates popup showers/thunderstorms.] and lower temperatures. He has the cats outside right now and they are quite happy. "I" am going to get some tea and breakfast!

Afternoon! I would have been around about 6 hours ago but my freaking computer's internet security program decided it hadn't downloaded a thing in THREE DAYS and went NUTS on me the instant I started up the computer this morning... Over 5 hours and 83 MB later on the dial up and it's finally back up to date... Roll Eyes

It's a scorcher here today, temps are getting close to 90 with a heat index of about 95 right now (28 C, 34-35 heat index in Canadian!) and I'm hoping everyone outside celebrating my nation's 145th birthday stays hydrated and safe!!

Gotta love online shopping!
I just ordered a new comforter/bedspread through Amazon since ours is on it's last legs. Got the size and color that I wanted in less than fifteen minutes and from the air conditioned comfort of my living/dining room. It sure beats driving to Greenwood and trudging from store to store looking at dozens of unsuitable sets before finding what I want!
