A while back, I had mentioned I was having Cincinnati Chile for supper.  It caused a few heads to turn.  Here is the recipe.  Enjoy!

CINCINNATI CHILI

1 lb Ground Beef
1 large Onion
1 clove Garlic(minced)
4 oz Tomato Sauce
2 cups Water
Dash of Worcester Sauce
1 Tbsp Vinegar(cider)
Salt/Pepper to taste
1/8 cup Chili Powder
1/2 tsp Ground Red Pepper
1 tsp Cinnamon
3 Bay Leaves
1 tsp Allspice
1 can Beans

Fry beef brown and crumble with onion and garlic.  Add everything else, except, beans.  Simmer for two hours.  Add beans.  Simmer for one more hour.  Remove bay leaves(not good eating, found out hard way).  Serve alone or over spaghetti with grated cheese.

Thanks goes out to my Dad for this recipe, and for all the nights we had this for supper.

There are four ways to enjoy Cincinnati Chili.  They work for hot dogs and spaghetti.

2 Way:  Chili over hot dog/spaghetti.
3 Way:  Cheese over chili over hot dog/spaghetti.
4 Way:  Beans over cheese over chili over hot dog/spaghetti.
5 Way:  Onions over beans over cheese over chili over hoy dog/spaghetti.

My, personal, preference is 3 Way.  If ever visiting Cincinnati, the best places to go for chilil are...

1.  Skyline
2.  Gold Star
3.  Port Washington
4.  Dixons (located across the Ohio River in Northport, Kentucky)

You will get ALOT for a little money.

Bon Appetite!!

I lived in near Cinci, OH for a long time and have tried to explain Cinci chili to my chef husband. I will have to show him the recipe. I recently made some chili and put it over spaghetti with onions and cheese. He'd never had it that way and he liked it.. although it wasn't the Cinci style.
