     Jasmine begins sobbing uncontrollably and hides her face against Kodiak’s muscular chest. She realizes that if the Keyholder becomes a vampire or even a half vampire like Kodiak, she will no longer be bound by her oath to the Goddess of the Sand and will be free to seek the Darklord’s bed.  Jasmine has no illusions about the powerful attraction that exists between the Keyholder and her Lord Marshall. Were it not for the curse, Jasmine knows, they would have long ago become lovers!
