Morning. I slept in this morning. It's Mother's Day after all!
Moonie reports that RB ate more solid food sometime in the night and he ate again this morning although he STILL has a fever. We will talk to the vet about that tomorrow. He's currently on our bed with a food plate nearby.
I find it ironic that he starts eating the same day we buy two cartons of kitten milk.....

RB has been walking around a bit. He is SO SKINNY! We're going to have to get him built up once he's healthy. He's just had his antibiotic and is back in our bedroom with Moonie. Skywise is cutting the grass and RB doesn't like the noise.

My legs have discovered new and innovative ways to hurt. Getting prone does not help. There is aspirin in my future 'cause Mother's Day or not, I have laundry, dishes and cooking to do. Minimum.

Just took aspirin.
Load of laundry is in the washer.
Skywise is back from getting new blades for the mower.
RB is on our bed and I may join him shortly.

SunLord who is an 18 pound, all muscle kitty, just pulled the sliding screen door open to let himself in and to let the Prince out.  Smiley

RB's nose is starting to run/stop up again so we've closed up the house and turned on the a/c. The only thing different between this morning and now is that Skywise is cutting the grass. We may have a cat with hay fever....

Hay fever may be a possibility but running the a/c until Skywise finished cutting the grass seems to have helped. RB has his appetite back. He's been eating solid food every few hours, drinking water and seems to be getting stronger. STILL seeing the vet tomorrow since he's still running a bit of fever. We're all hoping that it will break tonight and we won't have that to worry about.

Morning.
One appointment down -- Spirit's dental appointment -- down.
One appointment -- RB's vet appointment -- to go.

RB is still at the vet's who wants to keep him while we wait on more test results. Once we have those, we'll know for sure what we're dealing with. In the meantime, the little guys is getting intravenous fluids and antibiotics. I hope he's eating....

Vet called. RB's temp is up a bit from this morning otherwise, he's holding his own. He isn't eating so I suggested that they try kitten milk and soft food. We'll take some over there tomorrow as a not so subtle hint.....

Skywise called right after my last post. He's planning a full court press tomorrow. He's gonna gather his feeding equipment, head over there and get some nourishment into RB! He was eating the canned solid food every two or three hours on Sunday night. And as noted above, now he isn't eating. I suspect that the dry food they're offering him is too hard for him to eat since he's lacking lower front teeth. Hopefully, once they see how it's done, the vet techs will be able to give him food when we can't be there. Once he's strong enough, he'll be able to eat the soft food. I am NOT happy that he appears to be backsliding, at least as far as eating is concerned. "Hydration" is important but so is food!

Morning.
We saw RB and he was much better today. He was getting hydration when we got there. We got him fed and did much petting and cuddling. His temperature is down a bit -- not normal but down -- but he walked around in the little room we were in and displayed considerable "feisty". Neither of us (Skywise and me) think he has what the doctor is testing him for. Cats with that condition don't "rally" so we're thinking he's picked up a resistant bacteria or virus. I'll be doing some long distance energy work on him later once I get myself "settled" which I'm not at the moment.

Waiting for the test results is making a wreck of me. Skywise and I believe that the results will come back negative but until they do, I'm not going to be able to relax.
I should eat. I wonder if my stomach is calm enough for that....

I managed to eat, had to force the last few bites. I'm waiting for the vet to call but I don't know if he will or not. If he doesn't, I'll assume that there is no news about the test results we're waiting on and that RB's condition hasn't deteriorated.

The vet hasn't called so I'm assuming that there is no bad news to report. We'll be heading over again tomorrow to visit with and feed RB. It would be nice if we could bring him home but that will only happen if the test results are negative and his temperature is normal. *sigh*
I managed to eat some scrambled eggs and toast which shouldn't give my guts too much trouble.

Skywise is on his way home. He's decided that we'll be bringing RB home on Friday, whether or not the test results are in -- and they should be. He doesn't want him to stay at the vet's over the weekend. We're not sure about staffing levels on weekends. If no complicated medical procedures are required, we can keep him isolated at the Guest House and take care of him there. He will certainly be less stressed. I'm going to head out now.

Everyone sleep well and be safe. Smiley Smiley

Afternoon.
We saw RB this morning and he was showing considerable spirit and displeasure with his surroundings. They've moved him to a much bigger cage since his previous accommodation wasn't big enough for him to turn around in. Still no word on the test results.  Smiley RB's only real problem seems to be the fever which "could" be causing him to dehydrate and not be interested in eating although on Sunday, he WAS eating every two to three hours. Since they have office hours on Saturday morning, Skywise intends to pick him up then and keep him until Monday morning. Maybe we can reduce his stress and get some food into him. If nothing else, he'll be home -- at least up at the Guest House.

STILL waiting to hear from the vet concerning the test results. I'm assuming that he hasn't gotten them yet. Tomorrow will be four days. At least my gut has relaxed somewhat.

We're back from the vet. We've brought RB home. The news isn't good. He's been diagnosed with Feline Infectious Peritonitis, a virus that is normally fatal. We don't know if he has the "wet" or the "dry" form. If it's the former, he probably doesn't have long. If it's the latter, he could have a year of good quality of life. As long as he wants to fight it, we'll help him. When he's ready to cross, we'll let him go. For now, we're going to give him the best, most comfortable life we can. If you want to help with energy, concentrate your efforts on the virus, rather than strengthening his immune system. In FIP the immune system attacks normal cells rather than the virus so -- attack the virus. I think I'm going to go sit by him and cry for a while. I've been holding it off but I've reached by limit.
