	#3950 Penthesilea *The Lord Marshall's Quarters* *Kodiak sat in the dark. He had a decision to make -- several, in fact -- but all of the other decisions would, of necessity, flow from the most important one. Without realizing it, he found himself in the astral -- and standing by Penthesilea's bed. He remembered the last time he had been in this room. Penthesilea had been attacked by a vampire who had torn out her throat, fed her his blood and left her to die and turn. Her divine heritage had enabled her to survive but the effort had driven her, for a time, completely, dangerously mad. It had been a dangerous time. Now, the times were no less dangerous if of a different and more subtle sort of danger. He watched her sleep. There were tiny signs of stress around her eyes and mouth as well as signs of exhaustion. She was reaching the end of her endurance. Whatever he had said to her in the heat of anger, he knew what she was. She had the ability and resources to run, to abandon the Castle and the people around it and resettle in luxury somewhere else. She hadn't run. Instead she had stayed and was prepared to barter her body to the highest bidder if it would buy the safety of the people who depended on her. And he recalled the vision that Apollo had given him -- of a Penthesilea who had only her duty laying broken and dead on a distant battlefield. He wanted to touch her... and didn't dare. Not yet. He willed himself back to his body. There had to be a way, if only he could find it!

DK opens the front castle doors to reveal a battered army led by Kodiak jr. DK commands to his army Pen up your horses, all ranks to your quarters. Jr. get cleaned up and meet me in my quarters we have something to discuss. 15 min. I will be waiting. Oh, and a dress uniform would probably be appropriate. * DK returns to his quarters to wait on Jr.

DK: So you know my power of Lord Marshall is slipping and I am in danger of being overthrown by revolt of some people of the castle? Kodiak: I gathered that. I also gathered that this tangled love affair with the maiden and the Keyholder has pretty much put you in this position. DK: All too true. Let this be a lesson to you. The reason I have called you here is one of my interest and, well, some of yours also. We can probably drop the whole �son� thing I suppose. Kodiak: Why? Everyone is buying it. DK: I feel you won�t get the respect you deserve as my son. Kodiak: So how do we break the news that I am your older brother? DK: We are just going to have to be upfront. Kodiak: I may lose my position of leader of your Army. DK: Actually I am looking to bite the bullet on this one. I feel you are the only one that will not stab me in the back. I also need your protection. I am resigning as Lord Marshall. Kodiak: Do you really think that is wise? You will be killed for sure. DK: This is where you come in. Lord Marshall. Kodiak Looks puzzled DK: As my last order of power. Take a knee. I, Dark Lord Kodiak as the Lord Marshall of this castle. Takes his sword placing it on Kodiak�s shoulder Do hereby dub thee, Lord Cujon, Lord Marshall of this castle. As so no one can revoke this power which I have bestowed onto you except the Keyholder. In naming you the Lord Marshall, I now resign my position of rank. Stand. DK reaches over taking off his badge and pinning it on Lord Cujon. Be well, my brother and never forget you are my brother. We ride together we die together. This is the promise we made along time ago. Bound in blood and brothers of sacrifice I hope you will honor this pact. Kodiak: I will wear this honor proudly and be assured as the Lord Marshall you shall have the full protection of your former armies. DK turns and looks to Lord Cujon. Be safe my brother for now I must take my leave. I am going in search of the Keyholder. Not one word until she is informed. DK leaves the room

The knight you know as Kodiak is not who he seems. He has returned from battle with my forces and I feel now is the best time to tell you for he is not my son -- he is my older brother. He is a fierce fighter and an impeccable leader. His name is Lord Cujon. I feel my love for you has distracted me from my duties as Lord Marshall and I have given up my rank in the castle, But before giving up my rank I appointed a new Lord Marshall in that of Lord Cujon. 	#3960 darklord_kodiak I do not know. While I will continue to fight for the castle, I needed someone who can focus on the armies. Which I cannot. My brother is the only one I can trust with the position that will not stab me in the back. I, unfortunately, have come to a crossroad, my dear. For I have defended two fronts that are a conflict of interest. I have taken two loves for which I am still confused. I don�t know where to go from here.

Drives the first sword through his midsection and falls to the floor. Takes the second sword and drives it through right next to the first one. Looking at the Keyholder, he sheathes the swords. How did this happen, my dear? I discovered it weeks ago while in a battle where I should have died. Drops back to his knees. I am doomed to live the curse. The curse that you live. What do I do? You should just take my head now while you have the chance.
