I'd use the "spill proof" cups with my son around the computer but he never did use them even as a toddler... He wanted to drink out of a regular cup or glass from the time he stopped nursing/taking a bottle (he was combination fed as a baby).

I just use a regular mug for my coffee and the only time I used a straw with that was when I had a tooth pulled and wanted to keep the hot liquid away from the clot in the hole that was left behind. (If the clot had come out, I was at risk for getting a "dry socket")

I do use straws with anything iced though, I have sensitive teeth and ultra cold drinks like iced water will make them hurt like old dickens....

I use a regular mug for hot chocolate and a soup mug when we have chili or soup (since I normally eat at the computer) but otherwise, I use the travel mug.

Soup mugs are awesome. We use those for everything from Hubby's baked beans to spaghetti or minestrone soup. The little guy uses them for ice cream too.

Yeah, the girls like to put their ice cream in the mugs too. I frequently find mugs that have had cereal in them too.

Understandable. A mug with a handle is a lot easier to hold onto than a bowl. The handle is cool (important if the mug is hot) and gives you something solid to grip and since it's deeper than a bowl spills aren't QUITE as likely.

I second that... especially since moving over here and essentially becoming house mom to a ton of teenagers... teenage boys are GROSS.  Seriously.

My sister is always complaining about my 14 year old nephew's "pigsty" of a room.

That is one thing I am NOT looking forward to when my son gets older!!!

Yeah, we've got a 15 year old, 17 year old, 18 year old, and a 20 year old living here.  All guys.  I clean every single day, and it's back to gross by the next morning...

Morning!

It's a cool but very humid day here again today. Temps are going to hover around 70 or so but with the humidity, it's going to feel a lot hotter than that. Blech.

Today I have to contact my aunt to make sure our family barbecue/get together is on the 13th so Hubby and I can plan the rest of next weekend... And I have to see if I can find my good boots and jeans or a skirt to wear to the exhibition of my great uncle's paintings/drawings and the other family work on the 15th and 16th.

Time to check my SP Pets in another tab, grab another coffee and get caught up.

So my creepiness factor has jumped up a ton... I had a dream the other day in which I had a conversation with someone who told me, "Gary's only got a couple weeks to live."  Gary being my former roommate.

I woke up from that dream, told J and a couple of others about it, and that was it.

Until this morning, when I wake up to find out that Gary had a heart attack, and he's in the hospital right now, and they aren't sure he's going to make it.

Yeah... creepy.  I now have friends freaking out because OMG I can really see the future, and it's not a joke, it's completely real.

I just did something I have been putting off for a long, long time.... I had not washed the shirt that I was wearing the day Birdie passed and I finally chucked it into the washer... A part of me would NOT let me do that until today... But since it's now 14 months to the day since she passed, it's time. It is time to start moving forward again without her. I'll always love and miss her horribly but I know she IS looking out for me by whispering in Noelle or Amber's ears or making sure I have a lot of furry love from those two.

I still can't believe I just did that though.... Sad

Yeah, AR. It's one thing to see it on television, it's another to have it happening to someone you know.

We're back from "payday shopping" and I really thought I was going to lose my mind. Wal-Mart is rearranging everything again and I was having a hell of a time finding what I needed. Also the futon I want for the basement has been drastically reduced in price but they only have two left and I don't know if they will still have one for me by the time we can get over there to buy it.

Well, I found out why that futon is on sale at more than half off -- it's junk. The reviews on Wal-Mart's website are uniformly bad. Time to look elsewhere and quickly!
