	Back. I've been studying -- writing of course, specifically fight scenes -- and doing (more) dishes. It would really help if my family would quit dirtying dishes faster than I can wash them. Especially when I have a backlog as the result of a "cook-a-thon". Oh well, I "should" be caught up by Monday.

	The front is stalled north of the city and the rain stretches all the way north to Chicago. It's dry here -- for the moment -- but the northern half of the state is getting pounded and this foolishness is expected to go on through Monday. Oh happy day! Get out the lifeboats! 	Greetings. More rain moved in at 5 am and came down hard enough to wake me up. I woke up at 7 and it was still raining -- or raining again. It's dry now but I don't expect that to last. I'm getting caught up while the oven heats. I'm going to make biscuits and gravy for breakfast this morning.

	We went into town for lunch then stopped at the store to pick up a frozen lasagna for dinner -- the cook REALLY needs a break -- and found a lovely roast -- on sale -- that we'll be having for New Year's Day dinner. The rain is now expected to stick around through Tuesday. sigh At least it isn't raining like it did back in '08 when we had floods.....

	We had a catastrophic loss of megabytes this evening and we've all been offline so we wouldn't run out. As it is, I'm not expecting a full reload so I won't be on much tomorrow either. I'm going to back up Sanctuary and head out. Everyone sleep well and be safe.

	Greetings. We got a bigger refill than I was expecting so I'll be here as weather allows. We have more rain incoming and gusty winds. We had (smallish) pieces of tree hitting the roof all night which did NOTHING for my ability to sleep! sigh There may be a nap in my future today. At least the rain has let up for a while. There's some flooding but it's mostly along the river. Right now I'm going to get caught up before the next satellite blocking storm front moves in.

	Skywise left for work and the next wave of rain arrived at about the same time. Everyone is hoping that today will see the end of it. Of course if it had all been snow, we'd be looking at 30 inches of accumulation and "blizzard conditions" due to the wind. I'm being appropriately grateful.....

	The rain's picking up and I'm going to head out while I can. Skywise called when he was almost at work and reported that White River is definitely up and that it's a good thing that there's a levee running along it or things might be even wetter downtown than they are.... Later.

	The rain is letting up finally. Since we're conserving megabytes, I'm not going to check the radar so I don't know if more is coming -- wouldn't surprise me if it was. sigh I'm heading out to do more "post-holiday" cleaning. We'd like to be back to "normal" by the end of the week....

	Cleaned and made some headway including going through the piled up junk mail that needed to be put through the shredder before being tossed. I've got a wastebasket full and I'll be trying out one of my emergency firestarters on it as soon as weather permits. Yeah, I know it is too wet for ANYTHING to burn right now but with the wind we've been having, a stray bit of burning something might find something so.... I'll wait until the wind dies and stays dead! Post # 36,836

	Finally able to sit down and post! We made an unscheduled catfood run this morning and things got hectic when we got back. I've been cleaning since Skywise left in addition to herding cats. Now I'm going to try to get a little research done...

	Unless something happens, I'll be making a second Hellion "prototype". I've managed to find the decades old booklet on knife making that I used to finish the first Hellion so I won't have to rely on memory. The sword "Hellion" predates "Samgara" by several decades and I did design and make the first one years ago. I know more now about the process and won't repeat the mistakes I made with the first one -- the biggest of which was using a blade that is too long. So after the first of the year I'll order the new blade and start assembling the pieces I'll need to make it into a sword.....

	Skywise is home. Dinner has been had. I FINALLY found and bookmarked a source for two parts for the new Hellion so I won't have to carve them out of sheet stock. I will have to carve out the uniquely shaped pommel -- it would be very nice if I could find 2� to 3 inch diameter "rod" stock but no luck so far. The wood for the grip will come from Lowe's or Home Depot depending on which one I get to first. I have more than enough "no longer made" wood stain for the project. I'm going to need to modify a C-clamp that will make one part of the job easier and I hope I can find the heavy spring I used last time. If not I'll get another one. I'll need some other odds and ends of tools but finding the parts has been the hardest part. So it is with a keen sense of satisfaction that I'm heading out for bed. 	Greetings. We did our "payday/Walmart" shopping today. What with Friday being New Year's Day our usual routine for payday is kinda messed up. So we did the shopping we'd do on the Friday when we cash the check today and we'll do the grocery and other shopping in Bloomington on Thursday after we cash his check which he'll pick up tonight. Friday we'll crash, Saturday he'll work and Sunday we'll crash some more. Then, if I heard Skywise correctly, he'll start a two week stint on the super late shift. But.. at least there shouldn't be any overtime then. We were talking about it on the way home today and he and I are agreed that we're not going to enjoy Christmas until he's retired. The season is just too much of a grind for us to get any pleasure out of it. In other news, I found the sheet of nickel silver that I cut the first Hellion prototype's pommel out of and there's enough of it left to make another one which is good 'cause the company I got it from is apparently out of business. It's 4 x 6 inches and � inch thick and while I can find 4 x 6 inches sheets from other vendors, none of them are � thick. So I am saved from "redesign".

	The Queen has moved so I'm going to get up and wash a pile of pizza pans. I've downloaded the order form for the sword blade I want. I'm going to pay by check so I'll have to email them to find out what the postage will be since I want to be sure that the check will clear and I don't keep a large balance in my "personal" account. Yeah, I'm going to do it but I probably won't get into the serious work until after my eyes are fixed but that's okay. It will give me time to acquaint myself with the blade. It looks like the tang is flat on the end and I'll need to figure out how to cut the hole in the pommel -- which I'll be cutting out of nickel silver -- so it will fit. Last I looked, there is no such thing as a rectangular drill bit. sigh I see the potential for much filing in my future. Which is why I'll be waiting until my eyes are fixed before I get into the serious work......
