	#5117 Salanthos The footsteps flowed past, further down the hall. Just as it seemed they would pass without incident, a pause came from the other side of the door, followed by a harsh voice. Disembodied voice 1: You! Check over there. And you - downstairs. Gotta make sure there's nobody else hiding. Disembodied voice 2: Gotcha. The rest of the footsteps moved on, rounding the corner. Grumbling, the second guy fumbled at the door, opening it jerkily. With no place to hide, Sal lunged forward, knocking the guy off his feet. He fell hard, the breath whooshing out of him. Before he could draw breath to yell, Sal had finished him off with a hard blow to the neck. Sal whirled around as another person charged from the next room over. The voice had given orders to two of them, she recalled franticly. The man was raising his weapon to fire when Sal's stick crashed across his head from the side. Sal looked at the guy, and nodded thanks to the slave - his name was John - who had felled the guy. She received her staff from him gratefully as she pulled herself back up on her feet. The top foot or so had broken off, leaving it a bit too short, but it would do. Keeping an eye out for any more searchers, they hurried down the corridor towards the boat dock.

	#5118 Salanthos The alarm blared overhead: Abandon Ship! Sal and the others startled at the noise, and hurried the last way to the boat dock. It was chaos there, whatever crew that had been in the area were fighting to load themselves in boats and get it into the water. Sal grabbed a boat herself, holding it steady for the others to get in. The ship was sinking, breaking apart under the strain, the bomb had half torn it apart. Finally, Sal got the boat properly lowered into the water, and got onto a seat herself. It was a powered lifeboat, supposed to hold six, but they all had fit in with a little squeezing. Assuring herself the boat was in good hands - one of them had sailed before, and they were headed towards land - Sal sank into the hard seat with a sigh. The tiring events and injuries of the last - how long had it been, a couple of days at least - washed over her. Sal closed her eyes and quietly slipped into unconsciousness.

	#5122 Penthesilea "I'm coming." Penthesilea's voice was faint in Kodiak's mind but it was enough to rouse him from the stupor into which he had fallen. She was hurt. She needed him and he struggled back to wakefulness with all the willpower and all of the love at his command. He opened his eyes and was immediately hit with one of the worst hang overs of a life that had seen some memorable ones. He tried to heave but couldn't. His stomach was way too empty. Seeking Penthesilea, he rolled onto his side and saw her on the floor, unconscious, in a pool of her own congealing blood. Kodiak: No... * He fell at her side and felt her neck for a pulse. It was there, faint but steady. The sight of her blood on the floor threatened to start him heaving again but he fought it off. She needed help and.. so did he. Where? The Castle was out. No one knew that they were gone. He couldn't show up with the Lady in such a state without having rumors of the sort that they didn't need start up. The Temple, then. Karika already knew everything and she could help. Gritting his teeth against the pain in his head and the heaving in his gut, Kodiak picked his Lady up off of the floor, concentrated on their suite at the Temple and "stepped..."*

	#203 Penthesilea *Penthesilea & Kodiak's Suite at the Temple...* Kodiak arrived in the suite with Penthesilea in his arms and promptly collapsed, protecting his Lady from further injury as he fell. He cradled her in his arms while he waited for the room to stop spinning. He would summon help for them both when he could stand....

	#204 Rewritten by Penthesilea. Shankarika feels the arrival of the Darklord and his Lady through her link to the Temple and immediately knows that something is very wrong with both of them. She calls for assistance even as she grabs her medical kit and runs for their suite.

	#205 Rewritten by Penthesilea *Entering the room, Karika sees Kodiak, nearly unconscious himself, carefully place his Lady on their bed. The Sisters that follow her rush to assist him and, with a groan, he allows them to lay him down next to his Lady. He takes Penthesilea's hand in his and is relieved when, in response to the pressure of his hand, she squeezes his hand, ever so slightly.

	#206 Rewritten by Penthesilea Karika checks Penthesilea while one of the Healing Sisters prepares a drink for Kodiak. They aren't sure what has caused his problems but since he compares it to a hangover, they decide to try a standard hangover remedy. Kodiak sips it slowly, as instructed, and seems to be less greenish. His whole concentration is on Penthesilea as her bloody clothing is removed and he can see the closed but still ugly wounds in her stomach. A Sister returns from the Castle infirmary with several units of Penthesilea's blood obtained with the assistance of Lord Duncan. The transfusion is set up immediately and soon, Penthesilea is less pale....

	#207 Penthesilea As the sun began to sink into the West, Kodiak began to feel a bit more like himself. He had no idea what had happened to him. He'd had to kill vampires in that manner before and drinking their blood, while considerably less satisfying than that of the living, had never made him sick. There was something.. different.. about Angelique de la Sang's blood and that difference was a cause for concern. There were, however, more pressing matters that he needed to attend to. Penthesilea had slept through the day. He had laid beside her and watched the blood drip into her arm. Watched the color return to her lips and cheeks and listened as her breathing grew deeper and more steady. He had left her only long enough to tend to the needs of his own body and had returned to her quickly when he heard her whimpering in her sleep and knew that, even unconscious, she had detected his absence. Now, he was going to have to leave her. There were matters in Madridoor he needed to see to or all their work could be wasted. He got up, showered and dressed all the while keeping himself firmly in Penthesilea's mind through their bloodbond. She remained quiet. When he was ready to leave, he went to a chest located at the foot of their bed and pulled out the neatly folded throw of black fur that Penthesilea had been so attached to on their previous visit. He covered her with it, making sure that a section of it touched her cheek. Then he kissed her gently and told her in very way that he could that he would come back to her and after a nod to the young priestess who had come to sit with his Lady while he was gone from her, Kodiak "stepped" and was gone.

	#208 Rewritten by Penthesilea When Karika comes in to check on Penth, she is startled to find Kodiak gone. The Sister on duty explains that Kodiak had to leave to tend to matters in Madridoor. Knowing that Penth might be restless with her love gone from her side, Karika releaves the Sister and takes over the watch herself. To sooth the restless woman, she begins to softly sing healing chants from her homeland and Penth settles into gentle sleep...

	#5125 Penthesilea *East Madridoor -- A Hidden Temple* The slave had begged for mercy from those who had none. She was tall and beautiful and had expected to be sold as a pleasure slave. This did not displease her significantly since there was power to be gained through pleasure -- but a vampire's idea of pleasure could be very different from that of one who still breathed.... Once the body had been bled dry, it was carefully lowered to the floor and the slashed throat stitched closed and wrapped tight with the sacred herbs. Then it was washed and prepared for the ritual. While this was being done, the being that had been known as Angelique de la Sang soaked in the still warm blood of the slave. Slowly the being dissolved into the blood while still retaining its awareness of self. When this had been accomplished to the Priestess's satisfaction, the prepared body was lowered into the tub containing the blood. While the onlookers and the Priestess chanted and prayed, the blood began to move. Slowly at first and then with more speed it flowed back into the corpse until every drop was gone. Then.. the features of the slain woman began to change until, as the chanting reached its crescendo and then abruptly stopped, the body sat up wearing the face of Angelique de la Sang...

	#5129 Penthesilea *Madridoor* Kodiak's first stop was the apartment. He called housekeeping to come in and clean the bedroom floor and then made a few calls. It didn't take him long to track down Hassan and arrange a meeting. At the appointed time, Kodiak "stepped" to it. Hassan was waiting for him....
