DRAT!!
It looks like the van was sold either late yesterday afternoon or this morning. I sent an email to ask about it and haven't gotten an answer yet but I can't find it on CarGuru (where I first found it) or on the dealer's website so I'm pretty sure it's been sold. Oh well, back to the hunt and I'm gonna be firm with the universe about the next one being closer to home and even more perfect than the one we just missed out on!

Found another "possible." This one is closer -- 41 miles give or take -- and an '08 and therefore more expensive but if we can get it, we'll manage. It WILL need to be repainted though.....

While twiddling my thumbs waiting for email replies, I've located a car delivery/transport service and a place -- just a couple of miles from here! -- to have repainting done. NOW all I need is a van to be delivered and painted!!

*sigh* Waiting for an email is only slightly less annoying than waiting for a phone call.

I sent another email this morning and that one went through. The seller has replied. The van is still available and the reply included a phone number which Skywise has. He's to call the seller before he goes into work. He gets that job because he knows what questions he wants to ask and the appointment to check out the van will have to be made around his work schedule and maybe the seller's too. Directions to their house will have to be gotten -- I already have directions to their town -- and such.
I am saving the "happy dance" until such time as the van's title has been transferred but I'm cautiously optimistic.

No word from Skywise but he may wait until he gets home. There's always the possibility that he had to leave a message.
The ball is rolling.
I will be patient.

Skywise got in touch and has the address. I don't know much more than that but the ball IS rolling and it sounds promising.

As noted elsewhere, we saw the '08 van today and decided to pass on it. We found out some important things in general about E-150s but this particular van was not for us. Since the Windstar is still running -- with a new engine and "not that old" transmission it should be! -- we'll take our time, accumulate more down payment money and wait for the perfect or nearly so van. I'm concentrating my search on '10s and '11s since Spirit has expressed a preference for the "sliding cargo door" option which reintroduced in the 2010 model year. We'd also like an 8 passenger rather than a 7. Moonie wants a bench seat too!  Smiley

We heard from the auto shop just before they closed for the day. The car is finished. I told them we'd pick it up tomorrow.

I'm having a serious talk with the Universe today. In the last couple of days, I've found two "possibles" one seriously overpriced and the other one "just right". Unfortunately, they are BOTH in Ohio which means if we were to buy one of them, it would be "sight unseen" and that's unacceptable. So Uni is just gonna have to manifest something close enough that we can go see it and test drive it. I'm making Uni aware of that fact. I wouldn't even mind if Uni managed to move the "just right" van somewhere A LOT closer. Uni can manage anything and I'm telling it to "MANAGE ALREADY!"

Smiley<------ Me, hunting E-150 vans, 7 to 8 passenger capacity with sliding passenger side door (which will go a long way toward helping Spirit accept the change), any color (we'll have the darn thing PAINTED if it isn't red!) and close enough for us to see and test drive it.
I set the "search" on AutoTrader as wide as possible and ANY distance from Indianapolis. I got less than ten selections ALL of them over 700 miles from Indy. I haven't had much better luck with eBay, Cars.com and Carsforsale.
I need chocolate, roast beef and root beer -- not necessarily at the same time.......

Went back and looked at one of the Ohio vans. It's still available. The price is STILL right and it is STILL in Ohio! I'm having "discussions" with Uni. (Me----> Smiley ) That van or one like it needs to get within 50 miles of Indianapolis, preferably closer! And BEFORE something else expensive breaks on the Windstar. It seems to be going into "automotive dementia" meaning that various alarms are going off without cause and I'm afraid that it is only a matter of time before it goes completely "brain dead"and becomes an inert pile of metal. I'm really hoping that it's parked in the driveway when that happens.....

Skywise and I are puzzling over the fact that all the vans that have the "potential" to be perfect for us seem to be in OHIO. Uni seems to be toying with us and I must say, I'm not amused.....

I'm keeping an eye on a van I found after the storm passed. It's an E-150 XLT, red and in Tipton, Indiana which is about 90 minutes from here. There are no pictures of it yet and the dealer's description doesn't say if it has the 40/60 swing out doors or a sliding door so I don't know if it qualifies in that regard. The description doesn't mention a wheelchair lift and since that is usually mentioned if there is one, I'm cautiously optimistic that it doesn't have one. The price is also right and about $1,000 less than the black one I was looking at in Ohio. It's a local (to Tipton) single owner vehicle and I'm hoping that Uni is finally getting the message about "closer" and "sliding door"!

Yes, I'm antsy to find out one way or another!!

There are still no pictures of that van and I got tired of waiting to find out if it has a sliding passenger door and emailed them. I want to know one way or another so I can either keep searching -- and yelling at Uni -- or start figuring out when we can get there since Skywise is working this Saturday -- again! -- and the place is closed Sunday. He's going to start a two week stint on the superlate shift either this coming week or the week after -- I forget which -- so we could possibly go during the week. It's about a ninety minute drive each way. At least it's closer than Kokomo......

The dealership closed at 6 and STILL no email and no pictures. Hopefully, someone who can answer my question is working after hours to get caught up once the customers are gone.

Looks like I'm back yelling at Uni. I found the same van listed on a "cars for sale" site and it had more information listed than the dealer's site did and it says that the passenger side door is a 40/60 split.
Damn.
Back to the hunt but not now. I need to get cooking. And dish washing.

Dough is rising and the necessary dishes are washed. I'm going to look at a couple of places and see if anything new in the way of vans has been added....

I've been looking at vans online for nearly two and a half hours. Smiley My eyes are shot! Shocked I'm going to refresh my tea and go rest them.
And no, I didn't find anything although I'm making a chart that "should" allow us to make intelligent decisions based on year of manufacture, mileage and trim type. I'm also recording the location of my samples.

"ENOUGH!!" says the eyes. Back later.

No luck with online searches today so I just spent an hour going through this week's Indiana Auto & RV. No joy there either.
A new one will be out on Friday. Maybe I'll have better luck then.

Tonight I've found three E-150s that meet our minimum requirements. They are one each in New Jersey, California and Washington state.
This does NOT help except to fill in spaces on my "research" sheet. Smiley

You don't want to know......  Smiley

Time to work on my "manifestation" skills while yelling at Uni.
