Things are starting to develop. *sigh* Skywise thinks he'll be able to get to work before all meteorological hell breaks loose. I hope so.
When it starts to get interesting, I'll go offline and park myself in front of the television with Book 2 and proofread while I can. So far it doesn't look as bad as it was yesterday. My fingers are crossed. I'll be back online as soon as it's clear.

Later, when the storms are over.....

This is a good thing. We're saturated and need some drying out time!

Turbulent Weather Expected Tuesday

POSTED: 4:40 am EDT October 26, 2010
UPDATED: 9:33 am EDT October 26, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS -- A line of severe thunderstorms began plowing through Indiana early Tuesday morning, prompting the issuance of numerous weather warnings.

A tornado watch was posted for much of the state. Storms encroached on the western part of the state beginning at 8 a.m.

Track Storms: Interactive Radar | Get Alerts
Send/View: Storm Pics, Video

Storm sirens began sounding in Indianapolis at 9:15 a.m. as a severe thunderstorm warning was issued.

Wind gusts of up to 70 mph were reported in Terre Haute as the storm moved through, and a funnel cloud was reported at about 8:45 a.m. east of Rockville in Putnam County. Wind gusts of up to 70 mph were also reported in Daviess County. A tree fell on a garage in Clay County, but no injuries were reported.

More than 10,000 Duke Energy customers were reported without power as of 9:30 a.m., with more than 2,000 of those in both Knox and Clay counties.

Several severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued as storms moved rapidly toward the Indianapolis area.

The National Weather Service's Storm Prediction Center placed most of Indiana in a high risk zone for severe weather on Tuesday. High risks are rare, and they indicate that forecasters think a severe weather outbreak is all but certain in the state.

A very strong cold front is expected to sweep through Indiana during the day. Ahead of the front, ample moisture is flowing into the state.

Thunderstorms developed in a volatile environment ahead of the front. The line was expected to be in the Indianapolis area before 10 a.m.

Storm Team 6 meteorologist Julia Sandstrom said winds could gust up to 90 mph in severe storms. Additionally, thunderstorms that may develop ahead of a main line have a heightened risk of producing tornadoes, some of which could be strong and long-lived.

A high wind warning is also in place across much of Indiana through 8 p.m. Outside of thunderstorms, sustained winds of 40 mph are possible, with gusts of up to 60 mph.

The turbulent weather will subside Tuesday evening with the passage of a cold front. Temperatures will be much cooler later this week, with highs expected in the 50s.

It's raining again but it's in the low 50's right now so there is no danger of anything freezing which is good since Skywise will be driving the van home tonight. I'm not sure how it handles on ice and I don't want Skywise to have to find out!
