You're lucky. Up here, one has to be practically dead before they can get any kind of disability pension/funding after they turn 18. There are people who are faking their disability that are on it yet the people who REALLY need it can't get it, even with tons of proof they can't work due to a disability.

It's nuts.

We're really going to have to fight for our son when he turns 18 unless the qualifications for getting the CPPD are changed by then. That's in 11 years so hopefully they will have recognized all forms of ASD by then.

By the time we applied for SSI we had TONS of documentation concerning their condition so that, with the evaluations that the SSA ordered made it pretty clear that neither of them were employable. We've jumped through the necessary hoops to get them permanently on Skywise's health insurance so we don't have that worry and we went to court and were appointed their legal guardians.

I'm not sure what we're going to have to do to become legal guardians of our son when he turns 18 years old but I'm sure that the gang at the Autism resource center would know. There are some people with ASD that were approved for CPPD but they are the most severe cases. We'll just have to take things one step at a time and hopefully it will be better up here in 11 years.

*sigh* It's stopped already but it's a start. The front that is coming through is supposed to break the heat wave. We're supposed to be in the low 80s by this time next week which will be a relief. We got the electric bill for last month today. I haven't opened it yet....

Wishing that it would rain today. It's so very hot.

On a somewhat irritating, but supposed to be positive, not LOL J made me go buy myself clothes today... spent more on myself today than the last two years combined.

Having one of those very, very rare lazy sorts of days where I'm not doing any work.  Well, not any paid work anyway LOL J convinced me to drag out my novel and work on it again after several years.

It's cloudy, humid, and just plain YECHY here in my end of the province...

Hubby noticed the mailbox is full of earwigs (we have the rural type mailbox here) so he's now currently spraying it with bug killer and hopefully that will take care of the buggers.

"Heck's" Kitchen was good last night and I'm looking forward to another new episode of it tonight... Same with Master Chef. Cheesy

I'm doing research on prices for toner cartridges for my printer...

The cheapest one is $72 PLUS 15% tax and the most expensive is almost $200!!!  Smiley

I think we'll be going with the cheapest one, it's even a "green" cartridge (meaning it can be easily recycled).

And we had our first hospital visit together last night.  I was laying next to J with my hand under his legs, and he went to roll over and sit up, and his knee hit my hand just right that all of a sudden we heard a "snap" and lots and lots of pain.  So he made me go to the ER.

He felt so, so bad, and was right there with me the whole time, holding my good hand LOL  It's not broken, just deeply bruised, so that's good.

Moonie has reminded me of something.
We were in town today and had lunch at the Wendy's which is right off of the highway. We were preparing to pull out of the parking space when Skywise saw a small animal come out of the drainage pipe that runs under the road that intersects with the highway. It was a MUSKRAT! We watched it as it went up to a clump of grass, pulled up a big mouthful and then headed back to its den which looked to be in a small pipe running along the upper edge of the larger pipe!
You don't usually see muskrats that close to town.

I'm thinking that the last half of Book 3 and the first half of Book 4 will have a lot of "vampire hunting" in it. I have too many different "breeds" of vampires in my world and I need to thin the herd.....

Iz happy. The inflatable mattress and pump I ordered have arrived at the local post office and will be delivered tomorrow. The bed frame is in Indianapolis and "might" arrive tomorrow. It will be here Thursday at the latest. That will give me plenty of time to assemble everything and test it out.

I've been downstairs excavating and large sections of floor are appearing. The air mattress came this morning and I'm waiting for the UPS man to get here with the frame. Tomorrow, I'll be getting a bookcase so it is looking like tomorrow will be a major "assembly of furniture" day.
Skywise is already planning testing protocols for the new bed  Smiley which will require a little adjustment since it is a twin sized bed rather than our usual Queen sized......

The bed frame has arrived and I managed to get it downstairs without dropping the box down the stairs or falling down them myself.
This is a good thing.
I'll be buying two storage units tomorrow to help corral the library which is threatening to take over the place. The units "should" give me enough space for the books that are on the floor with maybe some room left over for some of the ones stacked on tables.
Right now, however.. I need aspirin and I need it BAD!
