	Afternoon. We took off fast this morning and hit two hobby shops, a game store, Toy R Us, Barnes and Noble, Half Price Books and the grocery store! I've got what I need to make the stand for my foam head and two wooden candlesticks. I also picked up a DARTH VADER helmet cake pan -- HOW could I pass something like THAT up? -- and some odds and ends for my supply and equipment caches. Plans for next week call for a trip to Jo-Ann's where I'll be looking at silk flowers, bling and probably some other things too. Right now I have tea and I'm getting caught up.

	No kidding. As far as I know we don't have rhinos, elephants, wildebeast or Cape Buffalo in this area so I have NO idea what they need such heavy weaponry for.

	The base for my foam head stand is all glued up and clamped with Skywise's help. Once it's dry, I'll put in the dowel peg and make sure that it isn't too long. Once that's done I'll glue that in place and my foam head with my Mardi Gras mask and choker won't fall over every time I breathe on it.

	Just took some aspirin. My knees (BOTH of them) are giving me all kinds of ill-mannered attitude and if I'm going to be able to stand at the stove and cook this evening, they need to be brought to heel. Hence the aspirin. I've done some measuring and marking for my candlestick project but no drilling or gluing yet. Drilling would involve going back downstairs and until my unruly knees stop giving me attitude, I'm not going to brave the stairs until I have to. Besides, the stand for the head isn't dry yet and I'll need the clamps on it for the candlestick bases. By way of explanation, the bases of the wooden candlesticks I got today are only 2 1/2 inches wide which isn't, in my opinion, wide enough to be stable given the height of the candlestick. So I'm going to make a wider base for each candlestick which will make them taller with a base that is a bit over five inches in diameter and an inch and a half thick which will not only make them more stable but they'll look cool too. THEN I have to decide if I should stain them blood red (I have a limited amount of that stain) or coal black. They'll be displayed on a black tablecloth with black candles. (I make my own black candles and there's a place locally where I can order custom made black beeswax candles if I want to go that route.) Decisions, decisions....

SIGH It's only Son and I here so I'm making myself a poutine for supper... Baked fries, low fat cheese and of course, homemade gravy made from no salt added broth. Mmm........

	I ordered the first course in the Wilton Decorating School for Moonie and she will get it on Monday. The book I ordered on hand bookbinding could/should arrive then too. THEN we'll see how much trouble we can get into! At least with Moonie's new project, it will be "trouble" that tastes good 'cause I make damned good cake if I DO say so myself!!

	I love my family but sometimes...... I'm NOT referring to the guys, it's other family members driving me bananas on Facebook right now. If it isn't one, it's another one... 	The stand for my foam head is all glued up and I've assembled one stand for a candlestick. Still working out how I'm going to clamp the candlestick to the stand when I glue it on. Clamps ain't gonna work.....

	I've gotten the first candlestick glued up. It's not as close to perfect as I'd like so I may end up making more than two but since I'm of the opinion that there is no such thing as too many candlesticks/holders, that's okay.

	I've finished some fairly major alterations to my Mardi Gras mask. I was having trouble tying it tight enough that it felt like it would stay put but loose enough that it was comfortable. I'd already moved the ribbon ties lower down on the mask and that DID help but I still wasn't satisfied. So yesterday I got some black 1/4 elastic, took off the ribbon ties that I'd put on and after a certain amount of strong language, replaced them with the elastic which I pulled up to a comfortable fit. Today, I decided to put the ribbons back in on top of the elastic and again, after much strong language, they are in place and both ribbons and elastic are sewn in. NOW, I'm thinking of ways to keep the ribbons alined with the elastic so it makes a single loop around my head... tiny thread loops maybe....

	Been on the hunt for bling components tonight and I found some interesting pieces, one that I ordered and another I'll be looking for next weekend. I also ordered some "ribbon ends" so I can work on this necklace which while almost exactly what I was looking for has needed some work to bring it more into alignment with my vision. I still need some silver leaf paint and some very tiny bright red rhinestones for some special "detail work" on it but painting with metallic leaf paint will have to wait until spring -- "well ventilated area" and all that! The other work I need to do to make it fit more closely and comfortably I can do while waiting for spring. And on that note, I'm heading out. Tomorrow morning will be busy and I need my sleep. Everyone sleep well and be safe.

	Morning. Had a great visit with my mom, aunt and uncle last night! I haven't seen Mom since the annual reunion which was in August, and having time with her was platinum in my mind! It was also nice to get our gifts exchanged during the actual season for a change... The last few years, it's been in March, April or even August before we do it, due to circumstances. I'll be here for a few hours then we have a few things to do in town, so I'll be offline this afternoon for a few hours. I'm goign to get more coffee and get caught up now.

	We've been to town and back and I'm in for the day. We picked up some "diet destroying" munchies for New Year's Eve with the clear understanding that we go back to being "good" -- as least as far as diet is concerned -- on New Year's Day. I'm expecting at least two packages today. Moonie's cake decorating lesson and my book on bookbinding. I'm hoping that the two items that have been mailed that don't have tracking on them will show up today too.
